The management standard was introduced in June 2011, and this standard may soon become a mandatory standard for Pakistan's export oriented textile industry.

At the workshop on sustainable energy solutions in the textile industry, Mr. Anis explained that ISO 50001

In order to improve the efficiency of the entire supply chain.

He said the standard will help companies better utilize their existing energy consumption assets, encourage them to better manage energy, strengthen energy management practices, and support greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

APTMA the Secretary General of Punjab said that the energy management system (EnMS) is a joint venture, a joint venture established by GIZ GmbH and the SME Development Bureau (SMEDA).

The first phase of the EnMS project is to provide services to 25 textile factories, including 17 spinning mills, 3 processing plants and 4 weaving factories. The principle of first come, first served is all funded by GIZ.

The 25 plants will save 7.483MW power, and also 5614 TOEs and 30480 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

These factories will also save 293 million rupees in Pakistan.

Anis said that the textile factories of the 400 APTMA associations saved 268MW electricity, 200000 TOEs and 1 million 800 thousand tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

These factories save about 8 billion Pakistan rupees.

Ahsan Bashir, President of the APTMA Punjab branch, suggested that the members of the association should make maximum use of energy saving projects. The total energy consumption of the domestic textile industry is 1500MW. According to global experience, the technical arrangement can save 10% of the energy.
