EU Anti-Dumping Can Not Scare Chinese Shoe Companies
"Chinese shoe companies have been treated unfairly by the EU, but they will not be" intimidated "and will not abandon the big European market.
Turning to the EU's anti-dumping measures against Chinese shoe enterprises, Wang Ying, Secretary General of China Light arts and crafts import and Export Chamber of Commerce, expressed his views in a clear way.
The shoe industry has been faced with sanctions and adversity to seek development. Wang Ying believes that China's footwear industry is an important part of "made in China".
Although in 2007 suffered from the "Chinese manufacturing storm" and the EU anti-dumping measures, the Chinese shoe enterprises did not "collapse".
She also believes that the final outcome of the EU anti-dumping is not acceptable to domestic enterprises, because there are obvious injustices both in the legal provisions and in the operational level.
From the current situation, 4 domestic enterprises have appealed to the European Court of justice, hoping that more domestic enterprises will take legal weapons to defend their rights and interests in the future.
"Although the EU has been hit by anti-dumping measures, we can see from our statistics that many enterprises are playing a fine tradition in the face of adversity."
Wang Ying said humorously.
According to the statistics of China Light arts and crafts import and export chamber, 7 billion 200 million pairs of shoes were exported from January to October this year, with a turnover of US $21 billion, with an average price of US $2.92, representing an increase of 9.8%, 16.1% and 5.8% respectively over the same period last year.
There were 98 million 580 thousand pairs of anti dumping leather shoes exported to the EU, 8% lower than the same period last year (107 million 160 thousand pairs), and the export amount was $730 million, an increase of 7.2% over the same period last year (680 million US dollars), with an average price of 7.41 US dollars, a 16.6% increase over the same period last year (6.35 dollars).
There is a reason for the unit price to compensate for the volume of exports. In fact, the promotion of the unit price of Chinese shoes is one of the important reasons for supporting the continued development of China's footwear industry.
And the rise of prices comes from 4 aspects.
Wang Ying explained to reporters.
First of all, Europe is inseparable from China's supply market.
Europe has great demand for Chinese leather shoes, so it is impossible to give up the Chinese market in a short time.
"If China's leather shoes are not exported to Europe at all, then Europe will probably have to bare feet."
Mr. Li, a boss of a leather shoes manufacturer in Guangdong, jokes with reporters.
Secondly, many traders in China and Europe have established a solid partnership.
Through long-term cooperation, the two sides can sympathize with each other and jointly cope with the problems they face and share the losses of exchange rate and tax revenue.
In fact, many European customers are proficient in cost calculation, and can also give our producers some substantial profits.
But if the conditions are uneconomical, or as the EU claims, "the price is lower than the cost", European customers will not be foolish enough to lose money.

Thirdly, the impact of export structural adjustment.
Some small and medium-sized enterprises were forced to withdraw from the EU market because they could not afford the anti-dumping duty rate of the EU.
"Now, the export of footwear products to EU is more stringent, and the profits of enterprises are reduced.
At this time, large enterprises show the advantages of large-scale production.

Finally, some independent brand enterprises rely on good reputation and reliable quality to keep the price of products at a high level.
It is understood that China's brand leather shoes with its stable quality, won the good reputation of European consumers.
As China's shoe exports to the EU are decreasing, the price of Chinese brand leather shoes is rising against the trend.
The middle class products are favored by the industry. "Although many domestic enterprises are still sticking to their production positions, they are increasingly under pressure from all sides."
Wang Ying said.
She said that for Chinese shoe enterprises, their living space is being constantly compressed.
Rising raw material prices, appreciation of the renminbi, and increased production costs such as labor and land, like "three big mountains", have blocked the way out for Chinese shoe exports.
Before that, many researchers predicted that 2007 will be a major test for Chinese shoe enterprises, and it is necessary to locate ahead of time.
"In fact, the doubt about Chinese manufacturing has seriously affected the reputation of Chinese shoe companies.
In the past, many foreign importers favored the price of Chinese shoes but reserved opinions on the quality of products.
Now, the price advantage of Chinese shoes is weakening, and the quality of products is more valued by foreign importers. "
Wu Chunyue, general manager of AOKANG Group Import and export company, said.
He said that considering all kinds of factors, the mid-range products may become the main target of the EU's purchase of Chinese shoes in the future.
Because of the impact of anti-dumping measures, those low-grade shoe orders will shift from China to parts of Southeast Asia.
From this point of view, Chinese shoe industry can not always rely on price advantage.
If we want to make a name and make a brand, we will have a way out.
