Demand For Spandex Is Expected To Grow Rapidly In The Future
According to a new report released by the British business information company, the demand for spandex in the United States and parts of Asia will increase significantly in the next few years.
The report points out that in the 10 years from twentieth Century to 2010, the demand for spandex fibers has increased more than doubled, from about 160 thousand tons to more than 350 thousand tons. Although there are cheaper other fibers to replace, spandex itself has unique performance advantages, and its demand will continue to grow rapidly.
Elastic fibers can be used in fabrics to increase elasticity of fabrics, which is one of the fastest growing varieties in the clothing market.
There are many factors in the growth of demand for elastic fibers, including sales of elastic fiber clothing in China, Brazil and India, and the number of garments produced with elastic fibers and fabrics.
The lifestyle supplemented by leisure sports promotes the demand for running tights, cycling shorts, tights and swimsuits, and spandex fabrics are very suitable for making such garments.
The demand for spandex in the Chinese market is very large and has reached 270 thousand tons.
In order to grasp the growth opportunity of Chinese market, the American fiber and textile manufacturer infield company announced in May 2011 that the company plans to invest 227 million US dollars to expand the company's Leica elastic fiber factory in Foshan, China.
The report also pointed out that due to several suppliers to increase production capacity, spandex product prices at this stage downward pressure.
Existing spandex production enterprises such as Ying Wei Da, Korea Xiao Xing, Asahi Asahi and RadiciSpandex will continue to face fierce competition, especially low cost production from China.
At the same time, the competition between Spandex Products and other elastic fibers will also intensify.
The report thinks that the future spandex elastic fiber and fabric supply enterprises should focus on product innovation, improve product quality, enhance product performance and fine marketing.
