India Spandex Consumption Is Growing By 15% Annually.

Spandex is an artificial fiber, its long chain synthesis.

At the second day international cowboy conference, delegates expressed strong interest in the "spandex growth and application" demonstrated by Mr. Gupta (RD Gupta), director of Indorama Industrial Co., Ltd.

Bayer and DuPont Co invented spandex and were patented.

Later, DuPont Co began to industrialize production. In 1960s, Asahi Asahi, Dongyang spinning also developed spandex production technology.

The fabric made of spandex is comfortable, crease resistant (woven), elastic and maintained.

In 2010, Asia accounted for nearly 84% of spandex output and the rest in the Americas and Europe.

China has an annual capacity of 399000 tons, accounting for nearly 70% of the world's 575000 tons of spandex production.

The North American market is the 53% largest share of the world's largest spandex consumer market, followed by Latin America, accounting for 10%. The remaining consumption is in Europe, China and other countries.

India uses only 2% of the world's consumption.

Mr. Gupta said, "however, because India's GDP growth rate is the second highest in the world, organized retail trade and branded apparel are growing strongly, so the spandex consumption in India has increased by 15% every year. Compared with that, the use of spandex in the world has increased by 7-8% annually.

He further informed, "at present, the direct consumption of bare spandex in India is about 6000 tons per year, all of which are imported, of which 37% are consumed by the circular knitting industry, followed by 27% spinning by air spinning, 19% by wrapped yarn, and the remaining narrow fabric consumption.

He added, "spandex fibers are also used in the furniture industry (sofa elastic belt), carrying (anti vibration ribbon), and elastic woven ribbons, stationery and elastic ropes in underwear, shoes industry, and will be applied to full knitted fabrics in the future.

Indorama industry is the first India company to invest in spandex filament. The company purchases equipment from Italy, mainland China and Japan. It can be divided into three stages, using dry spinning CP technology to produce spandex filament, with an annual capacity of 5000 tons.

The company plans to start commercial production in March 2012.

Spandex is the abbreviation of polyurethane fiber, it is an elastic fiber.

It is highly elastic and can stretch 6~7 times, but with the disappearance of tension, it can quickly return to its original state. Its molecular structure is a chain like, soft and extensible carbamate, which enhances its properties by connecting with hard segments.
