In The Past, The World'S Shoes Were Gathered Today.
In the 80s and 90s of last century, the footwear industry in Dongguan entered a period of rapid development, and finally won the reputation of "world shoe capital" in Dongguan.
But after entering the twenty-first Century, Dongguan shoe industry is increasingly caught up in the dilemma of rising cost and price, EU anti-dumping and tightening policy.
The new labor law, which will be implemented next year, will add to the shoe industry.
A large number of shoe factories have been closed down or moved out, and this situation is not yet known how long it will last.
The glory of "world shoe capital" will become a distant past in Dongguan.
How can Dongguan shoe industry break through?
Experts say upgrading the industry and building its own brand is the most fundamental way out.
But it's easier said than done.
"Nearly 1000 shoe factories in Guangdong have been closed down. The data of the Asian Association is relatively conservative.
According to my estimate, there should be more than 1300. "
Deputy Secretary General of Dongguan leather shoes Association, in response to the recent "Guangdong thousand shoe factory closure" incident, affirmed that "there will be a large number of fallen down in the year."
Zhong Jianfu, Secretary General of Dongguan Street Investment Association, also told reporters that many Taiwanese businessmen feel unbearable pressure on the many unfavorable factors in recent years. "As far as I know, forty or fifty Taiwanese shoe factories are ready to move away near the town hall."
It is understood that the annual production of shoes in Dongguan is about 1 billion pairs, accounting for more than 1/10 of global shoe production, but mostly in processing trade, with a large number of SMEs and lack of independent brands.
The shoe industry in Houjie is the most concentrated in Dongguan.
In November, dozens of shoemaking enterprises in Houjie town were reported to have closed down, and the footwear industry in Dongguan also encountered the biggest cold wave since reform and opening up.
Collective bankruptcy, Houjie collapsed last month, and dozens of 1/4 suppliers closed down at 10 a.m. it was time to go to work. However, reporters at the Ding fu shoe industry Co., Ltd., located in houling industrial area, Houjie, saw that the big iron doors were locked, and the factories that were still hot in the past were now empty.
The size of shoe factories has been shut down one after another.
In October 24th this year, Chang Deng Footwear Co., Ltd., located in Dongcheng District, Dongguan, suddenly announced that it had prepared more than 40 million yuan economic compensation for its employees, unilaterally relieved contracts with employees and stopped the production of shoes.
The shoe factory, which has nearly 4000 workers, has been a symbol of the development of the Dongguan shoe industry.
In the town of Houjie Town, an industrial village, a security guard in Yufu shoe factory told a reporter that the failure of the shoe factory was too normal.
Last year, a shoe factory on the left side of their factory collapsed, and this year, another shoe factory on the right side went bankrupt.
Although officials have not released final data, many industry insiders told reporters that in November alone, there were dozens of shoe factories that collapsed.
Nearly 30% of the shoe companies have gone bankrupt. "This year, due to the collapse of shoe factories, our business has been halved at least."
High street, Hongyun shoe material wholesale Plaza, Mr. Mei Da leather, told reporters that, influenced by the closure of shoe factories, nearly 1/4 suppliers of shoe factories have shut down and businesses are hard to do.
Because many Taiwanese shoe factories have closed down or moved away recently, the housing supply of intermediary companies has also been more abundant.
"We have a lot of rental factories here, many of which are also attached."
Mr Liang told reporters at Houjie branch of partner Industrial Estate: "yesterday, we just received a large factory building with thousands of square meters of rent from our owner."
Information from the Asian Footwear Association shows that in the first three quarters of this year, nearly 1000 shoe factories and related enterprises in Guangdong had gone bankrupt, or were sealed up by the courts or moved elsewhere.
In an interview with reporters, Miss Zhu, the Asia Footwear Association, said that this data is statistically accurate by the association's statistics from several field visits to Guangdong.
The Deputy Secretary General of Dongguan Leather Footwear Association believes that the data from the Asian Footwear Association is still conservative.
She estimated that more than 1300 enterprises in Guangdong should be closed down or shut down, while 200~300 of the more than 1000 shoe making enterprises in Dongguan were closed down.
The cost of collective relocation has risen sharply, and shoe companies have shifted to 3/4 to choose the "move north to the South". "In Vietnam, Hu Zhiming, I opened a shoe factory, more than 5000 people, business is good."
Mr. Ding, a former Taiwanese businessman who opened shoe factories in Houjie, told reporters that the price of land, labor and energy rose sharply in recent years. His shoe business in Dongguan was much worse than before, while the conditions in Vietnam were very good and the political situation was stable.
So last year he shut down the factories on the thick street and pferred to Vietnam to set up factories.
It is understood that shoe industry is a typical labor-intensive enterprise. With the increase of labor costs in coastal areas, it is bound to shift to cheaper labor areas.
Many enterprises are migrating, some move northward, others are relocating factories in Vietnam, where labor, land and so on are cheaper.
"Shoemaking enterprises choose inland inland provinces or South-East Asian countries, and now they are more and more in Dongguan."
The Deputy Secretary General of Dongguan Leather Footwear Association said that according to the statistics of the footwear association of Asia, about 25% of the footwear enterprises in Dongguan now have factories in Asian countries such as Vietnam, India, Burma and so on, about 50% of them are located in China's inland provinces, such as Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Henan and so on. Only about 25% of the enterprises are still on the sidelines.
Liao Liao, a group of workers who lack employment for many years, is reluctant to enter the shoe factory again.
Deputy Secretary General of Dongguan leather shoes Association said that this summer, no matter big shoe factories or small shoe factories, they had to cut down their production lines because of lack of work. The word "lack of work" was two words, which made the industry more difficult like nightmares.
Shoe factory: how many workers are there? How many Nanas are there? Shigu along the highway cuts into Houjie Town, Chi Ling, Chen Wu, three Tun, Shan Mei, Qiao tou......
Until the White Ho near Humen, the industrial zone was connected to the next stage, and shoe factories in the area were lined up.
In the industrial areas such as Chai Ling, Chen Wu and three Tun, the signs for recruitment of shoes factories can be seen everywhere.
In Qiaotou village, Houjie, there are two plastic cards on the door of a shoe factory. One reads "long term recruitment of workers" and the other is placed on the wall of the gatehouse, which reads "recruitment consulting office".
The two plastic cards are all mottled. It is evident that the factory has been recruiting.
"How much do we need to recruit workers every day?"
The manager of the human resources department said.
Workers: "after 80" do not want to work anymore.
The reporter met Miss Wang, who was checking luggage from a shoe factory doorway in Chi Sheng Industrial Village, Houjie town.
She said that the factory began not to quit, and she simply walked away without even paying her wages.
Yang, manager of the personnel department of the factory, says that almost all of their general practitioners are "post-80s". Some of them are single children, and the conditions are superior in all respects, so most of them do not want to go out to work.
Due to widespread shortage of work, some small shoe factories even went bankrupt.
"Hua X originally had only 10 people, unable to recruit workers, and went bankrupt in October."
At the village of Chi Ling, Houjie, security guard of an electronics factory near Hua X told reporters, "big factories like Yu Yuan are recruiting people, and small factories are harder to recruit."
Deputy Secretary General Liang said, "labor shortage" has spread to the entire shoemaking industry, whether ordinary workers, designers or other senior technicians, as well as middle and top management personnel, there are great gaps.
Collective confusion, no workers dare not take orders, "internal and external troubles" difficulties. Mr. Liu, Dongguan Houjie has a shoe factory specializing in the production of women's shoes, because there are not enough workers, he had to reject 80% orders.
Even so, he often fails to deliver the goods on time.
It is understood that such enterprises such as Mr. Liu can not deliver their shoes on time because they can not recruit workers, which is very common in Dongguan.
However, because of the failure to deliver the goods on time, the delivery companies also dare not place orders easily.
"I plan to close the factory and find another place."
Mr. Liu told reporters that without orders, such a shoemaking factory like him could not survive at all, even if he had received orders, no one would help.
"Although we have no risk of bankruptcy, we are beset by internal and external troubles and are faced with many difficulties. We wonder if our next failure will be ourselves."
The head of a large shoe factory in Houjie said that the implementation of the new labor law, the shortage of workers, the antidumping and environmental threshold in Europe and the United States, and the factors such as Dongguan's land price made it impossible for them to do so.
"There will be a large number of shoe factories closing down in the near future."
The Deputy Secretary General affirmed that because of the serious lack of work, some shoe making enterprises in Dongguan simply did not dare to take orders.
Enterprises can not work, but every month they have to pay factory rent, taxes, utilities and so on. These are a lot of expenses. "Although there are still some enterprises continuing to produce, most of them are unable to make ends meet. In fact, a large number of shoemaking enterprises are facing closure."
