At the age of 81, in the hearts of ordinary people, it is already time to take care of life. Why do you choose to be a model again?

Machado: earlier last month, IMG began to contact me. The process of signing the contract was surprisingly smooth and everything went as planned.

Even I feel a little weird. I must be aware that I am the grandmother of two children.

But earlier this year, I was invited to cover some famous magazines in New York.

Can you believe it? I never thought of leaving my life for a lifetime. POSE is more than enough.

Besides, luxury brands and famous department store platforms are also common for me.

Although I haven't been in the mirror for 20 years, I still feel as confident as I did 20 years ago when the magnesium lamp was pointing at me again.

In the past few weeks, I have also taken a group of photos for Spanish fashion magazine.

As early as the 60s of last century, you were a famous supermodel. How did you get into this line?

Machado: in 1954, when I was 24 years old, I began to enter the fashion industry. At the age of 24, I was already an older youth for the model business.

But I have never been disappointed or self abandoned. In the competition with my contemporaries, I always get the most contract and always get the highest reward.

1958 has been a great leap forward for me.

On the streets of Paris, I met Cassini, the private designer Cassini of Jacqueline Kennedy, wife of President Kennedy, who provided me with a contract to go to Taiwan.

You know, the clothes designed by Cassini for Jacqueline all use a soft light coloured system.

The image of Mrs. Kennedy's costume made her the idol of American conservative youth in the 60s and led the fashion trend of the United States.

On the day of my arrival in New York, I was interviewed by the editor in chief of Harper s Bazaar, and then introduced me to the artist Richard Avedon (the most famous fashion photographer in the world). I soon became the biggest card in his hands, and I worked as an exclusive model for him for three years.

As a Chinese with 1/2 Chinese ancestry, how do you view your identity?

Machado: as a model, in fact, in the 60s of last century, I had reached the peak of my career.

As one of the most famous models in history, the articles that sing praises for me add up to tons of weight.

Every time I report my article, the headline will use "Great China, Ma Chi do..."

I feel very proud.

I spent my childhood in China. When I was 16 years old, because of the Second World War, our family had to leave Shanghai for France. This experience made me become a very loving family.

At that time, I was "frivolous" in the way of modeling. So in the early 60s of last century, I fled from the camera to the editor of Harper "sBazaar", but all my colleagues regarded me as an alien, but in this way, I stayed in my post for 11 years.

Now I am old, but I can't forget the time of my childhood. I can't forget Shanghai. I can't forget the Bund. If I have the chance, I have to go back to see it.

Has your career been smooth sailing? Have you met any setbacks?

Machado: there must be setbacks. Because of being discriminated against, I almost stopped my modeling career.

In 1959, I became the first non white race to take cover for fashion magazines.

A few years later, Richard Avedon told me that the editor in chief of the magazine "Harper" sBazaar told him, "listen, we can't use Machado anymore to publish her photos. There's only one reason. Her complexion is not white."

Richard Avedon also changed his contract with the magazine for me. He told the editor in chief of Harper "sBazaar" that if you do not publish photos of Ma Chi do, then I will not renew the contract.

In this way, ah weather even threatened to "Harper" "sBazaar" with his own future.

Since then, you've seen me in different magazines every month. It's crazy.

What do Signing company think of your strength? How do they evaluate you?

Machado: Ian Bart is the head of IMG company. He has taken a fancy to me and has contributed to our cooperation. He said that although my age is not small, my charm is obvious.

When he signed the contract, he said to all the people present, "Machado is a legend. She devoted all her life to the fashion business. I think she can create more miracles at the age of 80."

How do you evaluate this contract? You know, you are the oldest contract model in the world. Maybe not after all, but perhaps not.

Machado: God, I accidentally created a world record.

I also hope to become a spokesman for fashion in the future. I will never leave fashion in my life, because fashion has merged with me.

I think this time the boss is willing to sign a contract with me because they know that there are still some people who are interested in looking at my age. They are not so ugly. If there are no medical devices, they can still maintain such a positive and optimistic attitude towards life.
