Holland Shoe Discount Stores Favor China Suppliers
The price of shoes is steady.
Last year, the sales of shoes in Holland increased by 7% compared with 2005, with a total value of 2 billion euros.
Consumers in the country are very careful in their calculations, and welcome the price appropriate footwear. According to Elsevier, 6 large discount Shoe Retailers account for 35% of the local market.
The shoe market in Holland is booming, which is good for mainland China and Hongkong suppliers.
According to StatisticsNetherlands data, nearly half of the 157 million pairs of shoes imported from Holland in 2005 came from China, because the price of Chinese shoes fell rapidly.
In 2006, China's share continued to expand, and the momentum in 2007 did not decrease.
The Deichmann retail group, which sells VanHaren brand shoes through 110 stores, is able to purchase quality products in large quantities to keep prices low.
Although most of the shoe stores in Holland are independent businesses, many of them have been integrated, believing that the price of products will further decline.
Retailers in the country compete to learn the supply and distribution models of retail giants such as H&M and Zara to provide affordable and fashionable products.
There are 405 stores in Holland, and Macintosh, which sells Scapino, Dolcis and Manfield brand products, is adopting the above guidelines, while companies like Schoenenreus, EuroShoeNederland and TopMerken follow suit.
Although 73% of Holland consumers are buying shoes in shoe stores, the consumption volume is decreasing. This may be due to the successive entry of Lidl and Aldi chain supermarkets, which gradually increase the market rate and pose a threat to other shoe retailers.
Although the number of shoes produced in Holland is falling, the shoe imports and footwear components of the country which are lower in price are conducive to shoe exports to other EU countries.
