The comparison test samples were purchased randomly at the major shopping malls and supermarkets in Ji'nan, and 16 pieces of infant clothing were produced by 16 production enterprises in 5 provinces and municipalities in Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangdong, Shandong and Hongkong.

And commissioned by the Ji'nan product quality supervision and Inspection Institute, according to GB18401-2003, "national textile product basic safety technical specification" and other related product standards and product quality requirements, the 6 components of the national mandatory standards, such as composition content, formaldehyde content, pH value, odor, color fastness to rubbing, and commodity identification, were compared. The pass rate reached 100%.

Therefore, the municipal Consumer Council reminds consumers to pay attention to the following points when choosing and using infant clothing.

First, careful observation.

To see if the product identification is complete, including product labels, Chinese factory names, plant types, models and so on, we should also pay attention to product safety label (category a products for infant clothing, B products for direct contact with skin clothing, C products for non direct contact with skin), fiber content labeling and washing instructions.

Two, smell.

In the process of checking the clothing logo, we should pay attention to whether there is a pungent smell. If there is a strong smell, it is very likely that the formaldehyde content and pH value exceed the standard.

It is advised to buy clothes for children, especially underwear. Choose white or light coloured clothes. At the same time, it is best to wash one or two times with fresh water before buying new clothes.

Three, touch fabric.

First, feel the texture of the fabric with touch. Children's clothing fabric should be hygroscopic, breathable and soft. Secondly, check the labels of the clothing fiber and determine the composition of the fabric; then identify the material of the fabric with the burning method. In general, use the fire to ignite, smell the smell, observe the flame state and the remnant form. The hair, cashmere and silk have burning hair smell, and cotton and hemp are white or gray ashes after burning; most of the synthetic fibers are hard lumps after burning.

For infants and young children, it is better to choose pure cotton and wear soft and light colored clothing.

Four, check the accessories.

When choosing children's clothing, we should carefully distinguish the safety of rope, straps, buttons, zippers and other accessories, and whether there are sharp objects. Check whether these accessories are solid and smooth, and whether all kinds of metal parts have gaps or burrs, so as not to scratch children's skin.

It is a potential factor that endangers children's health if the rope, belt and so on are suitable for children to adjust their clothes. If they are not suitable or unreasonable, they will cause damage to children.

On the basis of careful observation, identification of smell, fabric and accessories, we should carefully select the styles and brands that are suitable for children. We need to know more about them, compare them carefully, and do better than three goods.
