    Zippo Clothing Monopoly Market

    US local time March 17th, the famous American lighter manufacturer Zippo Manufacturing plans to introduce its clothing products with American characteristics into the Chinese market.


    It is reported that the family business, known for its production of windproof metal lighters, is launching a series of men's clothing and accessories with American style.

    At present, Zippo has only one clothing store in the United States, but it plans to build 5 flagship stores in China at the end of this year.

    The 5 flagship stores will be located in Beijing and Shanghai, and the first store in Beijing will open in September this year, said Mr. George Duke, the president of the company.

    In addition, Zippo plans to add 50 stores in China's first and second tier cities by the end of 2015.


    It is understood that Zippo began exporting to the Asian region about ten years ago the lighters with American flags and Eagle designs on the surface, and this store expansion plan will undoubtedly open a new chapter for its pformation.

    The company's annual sales volume in 1986 was $70 million, and this figure surged to $100 million in 1996. Currently, its total business volume, including two domestic and foreign markets, is stable at around us $200 million.

    Apart from the US, China is the largest international market of Zippo, accounting for 10% of its total global turnover.

    Last year, Zippo's performance in the Chinese market was excellent. Its sales increased by 50%, exceeding the previous sales target of US $10 million.

    This year, the company expects sales to grow by 10% over the previous year.
