    In recent years, domestic advanced technology has been imported continuously to transform the existing equipment, and the capacity and quality have been promoted rapidly. Nanjing DSM Chemical Co., Ltd. production capacity of caprolactam increased from 50 thousand tons per year to 200 thousand tons / year. Sinopec Baling Petrochemical Company has increased its capacity from 50 thousand tons per year to 200 thousand tons / year through technological research and development. Sinopec Shijiazhuang Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. adopted the production technology of toluene in Italy SNIA company. In 1999, a set of caprolactam production equipment with a production capacity of 50 thousand tons / year was built. The hydrogenation reaction system of benzoic acid partially replaced the Pd/C catalyst and the hydrotreating technology of substituted lactams instead of Potassium Permanganate. The capacity of the plant expanded to 160 thousand tons / year in 2008.


    It is estimated that the production capacity of caprolactam will be 970 thousand tons in 2014, including Baling Petrochemical and Nanjing DSM, which will plan to add 200 thousand tons / year equipment. Jiangsu group is planning to build a new 100 thousand ton / year production facility in Yangzi chemical industry park. Sinopec Shijiazhuang chemical fiber Limited Liability Company plans to build 120 thousand tons / year production facility. In addition, DuPont and BASF will jointly set up a 150 thousand ton / caprolactam production facility in Hainan in 2010.


    In recent years, the production capacity of caprolactam in China has been increasing, and the output has also increased. However, it still can not meet the rapid development of downstream industries. The production gap of caprolactam in China is mainly dependent on imports. The annual import volume accounts for over 60% of total consumption and high dependence on imports. Therefore, research and development of domestic caprolactam production technology is conducive to improving domestic competitiveness in this industry.     In the next few years, domestic caprolactam production and sales will continue to increase rapidly. It is estimated that the domestic demand for caprolactam in 2014 will reach 1 million 700 thousand tons, and domestic capacity will reach 1 million 500 thousand tons, which can not meet the market demand.
