International Leather Demand Center Shifted To Asia

At present, leather production in Asia accounts for 53% of the world's total production, leather production in Europe accounts for 27% of the world's total production, and leather production in central and North America accounts for 10% of the world's total production, and leather production in South America accounts for 8% of the world's total production.

In Asia, Europe, North America and South America, the proportion of raw material production in the world's total production is 40%, 18%, 17% and 13% respectively.
Steady growth of leather demand
With the rapid development of economy and the continuous improvement of people's income level, the demand for leather products is also increasing rapidly.
Statistics show that the average growth rate of the total industrial output value of leather industry in the past 2006~2010 years is 14%, the average growth rate of sales revenue is 11.85%, while the growth rate of GDP in the same period is 9.80%.
According to the statistics of the National Bureau of statistics, the statistics of footwear enterprises above the national level (above designated size enterprises refer to all state-owned enterprises and non-state-owned enterprises with annual sales income of more than 5 million yuan), the output of Chinese leather shoes was 1 billion 820 million pairs in 2003, the output reached 3 billion 360 million pairs in 2007, and the average compound annual growth rate was 16.6%.

With the price rising and labor shortage, China's leather shoes industry has achieved an annual production of 3 billion 320 million pairs. In 2009, China's leather shoes industry rebounded strongly, and output reached 3 billion 590 million pairs in 1 to November.
With the improvement of people's living standard and the diversification of living needs, leather will continue to be widely applied to leather shoes and clothing in the next few years. The rise of the domestic housing and automobile market will further stimulate the demand for upholstery leather and upholstery leather.
At present, China has become the world's largest footwear production center and sales center, forming a very perfect industrial chain and development platform, which has occupied more than 60% of the global shoe product market.
At the same time, leather shoes, as people's daily necessities, are less sensitive to price. Therefore, with the rapid development of urbanization in China, people's demand for leather shoes will increase rapidly.
According to the data of the National Bureau of statistics, urban residents consume 2.5 pairs of shoes per person per year, and the average annual consumption of Chinese footwear is 1.9 pairs. The developed countries in the United States, France, Japan, Germany and Korea are 7.3 pairs, 5.8 pairs, 4.8 pairs, 4.2 pairs and 3.9 pairs respectively.
Data show that in 2008, China's per capita consumption of footwear amounted to 23 US dollars, only 1/8 of the US, 1/6 of Japan, 1/6 of Western Europe and 1/3 of Korea.
Compared with developed countries, China's per capita footwear consumption still has much room for improvement.
