Fluorescence, also called "fluorescence", refers to a phenomenon of cold luminescence caused by photoluminescence.

When a certain ambient temperature material is irradiated by an incident light (usually ultraviolet or X ray) at a certain wavelength, it absorbs light energy and enters the excited state, and immediately regenerates and emits the outgoing light which is longer than the wavelength of the incident light (usually in the visible wavelength).

Emitting light with this property is called fluorescence.
