Safety Vulnerabilities In Infant Clothing
Since August 1st, the new version of the national basic safety technical specification for textile products (GB18401-2010) has been formally implemented. Before that, the Chinese consumers' Association announced that it had recently sold the knitted fabrics for infants and young children.
Underwear
In the quality inspection, 60% products failed to meet the standard.
60% unqualified children's knitted underwear
It is understood that the sample of 39 0~3 year old underwear for infants and young children, is the Consumers Association staff as an ordinary consumer status from Beijing, Tianjin and other 11 large and medium-sized shopping malls, supermarkets, exclusive stores, the price range from 29.9 yuan to 1470 yuan.
It was found that 24 samples had different quality problems.
Among them, 15 samples had relatively large size changes in washing size, affecting the re dressing; and the products of Turkey and Macedonia in origin had color fastness to sweat, water, saliva, and friction. The actual fiber content did not conform to the label annotation in 5 aspects, and the pH value of other products exceeded the standard value, showing weak alkalinity and so on.
However, they meet the requirements in terms of formaldehyde content, odor, washing resistance and color fastness.
Infants and young children's skin is young, sensitive, and does not form self-protection, infant clothing is even known as the "second skin" of infants and young children. If the quality is not up to standard, it will seriously affect the safety and health of infants.
Therefore, textile products involving infants and young children are also particularly concerned by the public.
After the implementation of the new version of the national basic safety technical specification for textile products, the biggest impact on consumers is also on infant clothing. Compared with the old standard, the requirements for infant textile products have been improved.
The pH value and saliva color fastness are a threat.
The textile products stipulated in the new standard are divided into infant textile products, textile products directly contacting the skin and textile products that are not directly exposed to the skin.
Infant textile products are classified as category A, which is naturally the most stringent standard.
According to the old standard, only infants and young children who are younger than 24 months old are classified as category a. After the implementation of the new standard, textile products worn or used by infants aged 36 months or below 100cm and below belong to class a.
"The age limit for class A is relaxed, which means that a large number of infants and young children who only need to meet the requirements of category B must meet category a requirements after the implementation of the new standards."
Hu Jianguo, director of Beijing textile products and dye auxiliaries quality inspection station, explained.
He told reporters that as for the daily testing results of infant textile products, the main problems appeared in the pH value and the color fastness to saliva.
The new standard stipulates that the pH value of infant textile products is between 4.0~7.5, showing a weak acidity, which can protect the baby from germs infection.
If the pH value exceeds this range, it will irritate the skin and even cause skin infection.
Hu Jianguo said that the current detection of pH unqualified products is mainly due to inadequate washing process.
Because this process requires a lot of water consumption, some factories are naturally out of control in order to control costs and use less water.
The so-called color fastness is mainly based on the resistance of dyes to various external forces.
Textile dyes are mostly chemicals. If they are wet, washed, illuminated, rubbed, sweated and saliva, they will be removed and pferred to the skin, which will damage the human body.
Infants and young children are a special group. They often like to bite their clothes in their mouths.
If the saliva color fastness of the fabric is not up to standard, it will cause the child to suffer from direct staining of staining residues.
A look at the two smell of three water
However, for consumers, the quality of clothing is difficult to distinguish from the naked eye when buying.
How to choose baby clothes is safe?
First of all, parents must pay attention to labels on clothing when they buy clothes for children under 3 years old. Labels must be marked with "baby products, class A, GB18401-2010". Without such labels, simply do not buy them.
However, Professor Wang Jianming, director of the teaching and research section of the light Chemical Engineering Department of Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology, admitted that even with this label, it does not represent 100% safety.
After all, quality inspection is just sampling inspection. Sometimes, the quality of manufacturers' products and products listed are different.
At this time, parents are asked to try their best to choose pure cotton or colored cotton fabric, and the natural raw materials are less irritation to the skin and skin friendly.
In addition, light colored and less printed products use less dye. Hu Jianguo said that from the point of color fastness of safety performance, products with light color and relatively deep colors are easier to pass.
If you pick some clothes, you can smell some pungent odors, such as kerosene flavor, fishy smell, sweet aromatic flavor, and mildew smell, which is also appropriate to give up the purchase. Wang Jianming said that many of the odors in clothes are inhaled from the bags.
Finally, even if you pick the qualified products, you need to wash them carefully with laundry detergent and then dry in the sun.
Because if the pH value exceeds the standard, multiple washing can be restored to neutral.
Of course, if there is something wrong with the color fastness, we should rub it vigorously and try to make the falling dye fall off.
Considering that most young people are more interested in online shopping, Hu Jianguo reminds us that we should try our best to buy clothes for infants and young children in shopping malls.
"Many online shopping products do not have a tag, but it is not known whether they pass the quality inspection. Though it can not be asserted that there is a certain quality problem, it is at least more risky."
