About this year's cotton production: affected by many factors, the cotton planting area in Henan province has maintained a downward trend. In 2012, the cotton production situation in our province could be summarized as follows: cotton planting area decreased, intercropping with multiple cropping increased, spring cultivation and summer planting expanded, mechanized transplanting basically matured, seedling transplanting progressed smoothly, and the field grew well.

During the spring sowing of cotton this year, the weather is fine, the temperature is normal and the rainfall is moderate, which is good for cotton seeding and seedling emergence. Cotton seedling transplanting is progressing smoothly, and the seedling condition is better than that of last year. Up to the recent survey, the Nanyang basin and the eastern Henan cotton region, the 14-16 branches of spring cotton field, were 5-10, accounting for about 45%; two kinds of field 10-13 fruit branches, 1-4 1-4 of the bolls, three below 10 fruit branches of three fields, accounting for about 15%. Except for aphids and spider mites, other pests and diseases in the main cotton growing areas in China are relatively mild this year, and do not affect the normal growth of cotton. According to the current cotton field growth calculation, it is estimated that the average yield per mu is 65-70 kg, slightly lower than the previous year's level.

About cotton textile situation: order reduction, underemployment, business difficulties. From 1 to June, over 2 million 190 thousand tons of yarn were spun above the scale cotton mill, and third of the total spinning volume at the end of June, an increase of 18.7% over the same period last year. Generally speaking, the situation of cotton spinning in the whole province is still in 1-5 months, but it began to decline in June, and dropped significantly in July. Many factors, such as the excessive cotton price, the sharp reduction in orders, the increase in labor costs, and the unsmooth sales of cotton yarn, have resulted in the closure of small and medium-sized enterprises and the limited production of large and medium-sized enterprises.
