The directional friction effect caused by the scale structure makes the wool fabric produce great felting shrinkage when it is washed.
In order to prevent this phenomenon, chlorination method can be used to destroy the scale structure or to coat the scales with high molecular weight resin, so as to eliminate the directional friction effect of wool and achieve the effect of anti felting.
Chlorination is usually used in the processing of wool tops, but the working environment is rather bad and the ventilation in workplaces is better.

At present, domestic wool anti felting finishing agent has some AV-801, it is a silicone resin.
It makes use of the active groups in the silicone resin to chemically bond with the active groups in the wool protein molecules, forming a reticular film on the surface of the wool fibers, eliminating the directional friction effect caused by the scale structure of the wool, and achieving the purpose of anti felting shrinkage.
The water soluble polyurethane resin wool shrink proof agent NDR-9801, developed by the research group headed by Professor Yang Dingguo, has the same shrinkage proof effect.
