"Apart from the cost of fertilizer, pesticide, mulberry leaves, silkworm tools and other silkworm rearing costs, one piece (the measurement unit of silkworm eggs) of spring silkworm can earn about 1500 yuan this year." Because the price of spring cocoons did not reach the psychological price last year, the amount of silkworm farmers in Nanxun District and Fuzhen Town in Huzhou raised one piece of spring cocoons this year, down from two pieces last year, but now Old Tang feels he has lost.

In the past three or four years, the domestic raw silk price has gone up all the way.

In Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, where the raw silk output is high, the average purchase price of spring cocoons in 2009 was 980 yuan/dan, which rose to 1640 yuan/dan in 2010, and 2300 yuan/dan in 2011. The purchase price of spring cocoons fell back to 1650 yuan/dan last year, but the purchase price of autumn cocoons rose to about 2000 yuan/dan due to the reduction of production. The average purchase price of spring cocoons this year was 2100 yuan/dan, and the highest was 2200 yuan/dan.

"Judging from the current highest purchase price of spring cocoons, the corresponding domestic silk price has reached 400000 yuan/ton," said Wang Wei. From 350000 yuan/ton at the beginning of this year to nearly 400000 yuan/ton now, the domestic raw silk price is again close to the historical peak two years ago.

"I'm afraid the price of silk quilt will have to rise according to the market this year," said the head of a home textile enterprise.

Three or four years ago, the price of a 2kg silk quilt was generally below 1000 yuan. However, with the price of raw materials rising again and again, the price of silk quilt has increased by 20% - 30% every year in recent years. Last year, the price of the brand silk quilt with the same package of 2kg was 1500-2200 yuan after the discount in the mall.

"At present, the domestic raw silk price is 400000 yuan/ton, equivalent to 400 yuan/kg, while in the spring when the cocoon was listed last year, the domestic raw silk price was about 310000 yuan/ton, equivalent to 310 yuan/kg.

However, the person in charge of the home textile enterprise said that the rising price of silk quilt has exceeded the psychological price of many people, and for fear of affecting the final sales, there is no plan to raise the price of silk quilt. "Maybe the discount is not as big as in previous years." This also means that the actual sales price will be higher than in previous years.

"At present, the export of silk has not improved." Wang Wei, secretary-general of Zhejiang Silk Industry Association, said that although the export volume of silk slightly increased in the first quarter of this year, it is actually because the unit price has increased, and the export volume has not increased.

The price of cocoon and silk has been rising all the way, while the demand of silk garment enterprises for silk fabrics is declining year by year. Mr. Kong, the design director of a silk clothing export enterprise in Hangzhou, said that since 2010, most international buyers have reduced their purchases of silk fabrics because of the instability of silk prices, "Apart from high-end clothing brands that are insensitive to the price of raw materials, most mid-range brands prefer to choose silk, cotton, linen and other interwoven fabrics. The application of pure silk fabrics in clothing is declining."

In addition to the price rise of silk clothing, which is similar to the price trend of silk quilt, the fabric has also changed quietly in the past three or four years.

"If you often pay attention to silk clothing and accessories, you will find that in the past two years, thick fabrics dominated by satin are becoming less and less, while thin fabrics such as Dongfeng yarn and Georgette yarn are increasing." Ms. Zhang, who manages silk fabrics in Hangzhou Silk City, said that this is the most obvious change in silk accessories. "Silk scarves are getting thinner and thinner."

"Among the blended silk fabrics, 40% cotton and 60% silk are commonly blended, which combines the softness and freshness of silk with the freshness of cotton."
