China's Garment Industry Should Speed Up R & D

The factories in the industrial park in Phnom Penh have been rented out. Only some areas and factories in remote areas outside the urban area are being leased.
The main reason why Chinese clothing and textile enterprises are so fond of Kampuchea is that the minimum monthly wage in Kampuchea is only 80 dollars. Two, the cost of plant rental in the country is only equivalent to that of China's 1/5. Three, the clothing products produced in Kampuchea enjoy preferential treatment for the EU's duty-free exports.

Facing many challenges to build factories in Southeast Asia
In Southeast Asia, rising labor costs, inadequate generating capacity, shortage of infrastructure and inadequate legal and land systems will be a constraint on the development of enterprises. Shen said that in Malaysia and Singapore, labor costs rose from 30 to 40 dollars a month to 60 dollars a month for 15 years. However, as foreign companies compete to raise prices to attract workers, the cost of labour in Kampuchea rose from $60 to $120 a month for 2 years. Since 2011, labor costs have risen at an alarming rate.
The survival environment of high-end textile enterprises in Kampuchea is more difficult. However, the productivity of workers in Kampuchea is relatively low. Due to the lack of fabric in Kampuchea, many Chinese enterprises can only produce fabrics in the country and print and dye them, then bring buttons and yarns to Kampuchea, which are finally sewn by local workers. According to Kuang Lanfen, in recent years, there have been some agents and traders in Kampuchea, who can provide accessories such as zippers, buttons and yarns for local clothing enterprises. Kuang Lanfen said: "this can only solve the urgent problem. If we want to import large quantities, we have to import from China."

Reporters noted that most of the clothes sold in some big markets in Southeast Asia are low-end. Brand clothing The middle and high end boutique garments with complicated processes are mostly made in China. "3 to 4 years later, the Asian garment industry will have a clear market segmentation. China, Thailand and Vietnam will focus on high-end clothing, while Bangladesh, Burma and Kampuchea will mainly produce low-end clothing." He told the newspaper reporter.
Jiang Hui believes that China's garment manufacturing industry should strive towards fabric functionalization and fashion design, and use surplus funds to develop new fabrics with high technology content, such as high fiber, non iron and nano technology.
