Putian Becomes "China'S Footwear Export Base"

This morning, the Putian Municipal People's government and the China Light Industry Arts and crafts import and export chamber held a signing ceremony for the signing of the "China footwear export base" in Beijing. Building a "China footwear export base" with the China Light Industry Arts and crafts import and Export Chamber of commerce is a great event and a happy event in Putian, and also a milestone in Putian's footwear industry.

It indicates that the shoe making industry in our city has a broader stage on the international trade stage and has a better prospect in the development of the industry.

Zhang Guosheng, deputy secretary and mayor of Putian Municipal CPC Committee, and Wang Hanjiang, chairman of China Light Industry Arts and crafts import and export chamber, attended the meeting.

Ruan Jun, vice mayor of Putian Municipal People's government, presided over the meeting.

Putian is located in the middle part of Fujian southeast coast. Its land area is 4200 square kilometers, and its population is 3 million 30 thousand. It is the birthplace of Mazu culture, which is shared by the four seas. It is one of the famous bridge villages in the country.

Since the reform and opening up, private enterprises in Putian have sprung up and become one of the important industrial zones in Fujian.

Shoemaking industry is the pillar industry of Putian industry. In the early 80s of last century, Putian took the advantage of geography and human connections to undertake the pfer of Taiwan's shoe making industry as early as possible.

As a result, a large number of footwear production, operation, management and technical personnel have been trained.

With the promotion and encouragement of the government, the private shoe-making enterprises in Putian came into being and developed rapidly. There are more than 1680 shoe making enterprises, including 218 scale enterprises and 53 billion enterprises.

In 2007, Putian produced about 400 million pairs of products and more than 300 million pairs of exports, with a scale output value of 20 billion yuan.

Putian has become an important domestic shoe making base and main production base of sports shoes.

Putian shoe industry is highly extroverted, and 90% of footwear products are exported to 116 countries and regions, such as Europe, the United States, Russia and the Middle East.

Actively developing foreign markets and stabilizing exports are the basic ideas for the development of footwear industry in Putian. Putian actively strives for the regional brand of "China's footwear export base", and promotes the production, trade and technological level of shoemaking enterprises with the help of the resources advantage of the "China footwear export base" jointly established by the China Light Industry Arts and crafts import and Export Chamber of Commerce, so as to make the shoemaking industry play a leading role in better industrial development.

After the signing ceremony, a symposium was held between the Putian Municipal People's government, the China Light Industry Arts and crafts import and Export Chamber of Commerce and the relevant leaders and personnel of Putian shoe making enterprises.
