Xinjiang Pickers Are Catching Up With Cotton Picking Prices Rising
At the moment, the mainland pick up workers began to enter Xinjiang.
Because cotton farmers in Xinjiang generally believe that this year is not easy to pick up flower workers, coupled with the hype factor of picking up flower brokers, the cost of collecting them has reached a record high of 1.2 yuan per kilogram, an increase of 20% over the same period last year.
"The price at first is 1.2 yuan per kilogram, and the foreman wants to rise to 1.25 yuan."
Putting down the phone, Liu Liwei shook his head. "It's still late."
In August 12th, Liu Liwei, a cotton grower who contracted cotton at the grass lake farm of the Corps, once again discussed the price with the flower picker. The foreman raised the price of 1.25 yuan / kg, which was 5 cents higher than the highest price he had expected.
Like Liu Liwei, the agents of the cotton planting farms are busy rushing to contact the mainland flower picker.
Reporters from the Xinjiang Construction Corps labor department learned that, in order to ensure that this year to pick up the flower workers can be fully placed, scattered in the cotton planting field pick up flower labor agent, as early as in July this year, began to contact pick up florist, earlier than in previous years.
According to some brokers in the six divisions of the corps and the seventh division of agriculture, the prices of flower picker in Henan and Gansu provinces are generally higher than those in last year.
Last year, the cost of marketing guidance was 0.85 yuan per kilogram, up to 1 yuan. This year, the market guidance price directly increased to 0.95 yuan -1 yuan per kilogram, and then counted the round-trip fare and accommodation for cotton growers to pick up flower workers. The cost has now reached 1.2 yuan per kilogram.
"The foreman who came to my house last year has been keeping in touch with me. This year I asked him to help me connect with 10 flower picker."
Liu Yanhua, a cotton grower of the 11 regiment of the 105 division of the six agricultural division, told reporters that in the early July, the price of picking flowers she talked with the foreman was 1 yuan / kg; at the end of July, the foreman said that no one had come to raise the price of 1 yuan; in August, the price of picking flowers rose to 1.2 yuan / kg.
"No way, everyone is looking for people. The foreman also knows that many cotton growers need manpower, so they will bring up the price, and do not exclude some cotton farmers in order to find people and raise their prices first."
Liu Yanhua said.
The reporter learned from Liu Yanhua's company that the price of picking flowers for cotton farmers was 0.95 yuan per kilogram, and the excess part was paid by cotton farmers.
That is to say, the price of pick up Florist contacted by Liu Yanhua is 1.2/ kilograms, and the company pays the cotton growers at the price of 0.95 yuan per kilogram.
By the end of the year, the company would withdraw the advance money again.
It is learnt that the annual pick up workers from Xinjiang are mostly from Henan, Qinghai, Gansu, Chongqing and other provinces and cities.
With the growing strength of the flower picking team in Xinjiang, a batch of foreman headed by the flower picking workers in the Xinjiang area came into being.
In addition, some flower picking labor brokers trained by the two labor departments are also playing a role.
As a matter of fact, the cost of collecting flowers is calculated by the foreman.
The cotton grower Ma Zhi Wen of Fang Cao Hu farm said that this year, not only has the cost gone up, but also the cost of introducing flower workers has doubled.
Ma Zhiwen runs a family farm of 500 acres.
He told reporters that in August, he contacted the flower picking hours in Shaanxi, and the foreman proposed that the price of flowers should be settled according to 1.2 yuan / kg, and that the lodging and ticket of the flower workers to Xinjiang were paid by the foreman, but the introduction fee of 100 yuan per person should be paid to the foreman, and the introduction fee was 50 yuan per person last year.
"The cost of picking up flowers this year is mainly related to the rising cost of labor."
Shaanxi foreman Min Xinguo, who contacted Ma to Wen, told reporters that the increase in the cost of the introduction was also due to the increase in the price of local labor workers this year, and that it was not easy to pick up florist to come to Xinjiang.
It is learnt that the Xinjiang Corps is expected to pick up 700 thousand workers. Apart from the fact that the regiment has its own pick up workers, there are more than 50 overseas needs.
"Pick up Florist every year, but every year they say they are short of people. One of the important reasons is that cotton farmers and foreman are playing games."
Ma Zhiwen said cotton growers hope to pick up Florist more and shorten the picking period as much as possible, because there may be weather changes and pick up costs in later stage.
The foreman wants to pick up fewer florist, so that the market price is higher and pick up florist is also eager to start from scratch.
"In fact, the annual pick up workers in Xinjiang can meet the employment needs in the total amount, and even in some individual years there are too many labor force workers."
Li Jianjun, the head of the service center for migrant workers, said that the shortage of flower workers is only partly uneven.
For instance, some flower picker knew that the southern Xinjiang had a long flowering period and concentrated on the southern Xinjiang River.
In the case of picking up flower prices this year, Li Jianjun said, every autumn, our district needs a lot of seasonal flower picking workers, and the Labor Department of the Corps will release flower guide prices in autumn, and all localities can float slightly according to the local actual conditions, but there is no speculation that there are some hype.
According to statistics from the Bureau of statistics, the cost of agricultural workers such as cotton in the corps system has increased by 20%-30% in the first half of this year.
Due to the possibility of labor shortage and labor costs rising in the second half of this year, the Corps expanded the area of mechanized harvesting this year.
