Textile And Garment Exports Will Not Be Subject To Quota Restrictions Next Year.

From January 1st next year, China's textile and clothing exports will no longer be subject to quota restrictions.

The head of the Municipal Bureau of foreign trade and economic cooperation reminded us yesterday that the US International Trade Commission has decided to implement quantitative monitoring of China's related products. The textile and garment enterprises in our city should arrange export plans in an orderly manner so as to avoid blind expansion.

According to the relevant provisions of China's accession to the WTO, the volume of textile exports and licensing management measures will expire at the end of 2008. The Sino US bilateral memorandum of understanding on textile products will also end at the same time, and China's textile exports will enter the stage of free trade.

At the request of the US House of Representatives fundraising committee, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) announced that from December 1, 2008, every two weeks, a statistical report on China's textiles and clothing imports will be issued to monitor the number of related products in China.

It is understood that the reason why ITC wants to monitor China's textile and garment imports is that the sharp increase in textiles and clothing from China after the cancellation of quota may have a devastating impact on the US market.

Since 2001, the share of China's apparel market has increased from 15% to 60%, and the export volume has increased from US $6 billion 500 million to US $32 billion.

According to customs statistics, in the 1-9 months of this year, the total export of textiles and garments was 136 billion 940 million US dollars, an increase of 8.1% over the same period last year, an increase of 11.9 percentage points over the same period last year.

Among them, Ningbo exported 6 billion 960 million US dollars, an increase of 22.5%, an increase of 2.8 percentage points over the same period last year.

The head of the Municipal Bureau of foreign trade and economic cooperation believes that quota cancellation is an objective opportunity. No quota restriction is better than quota restriction.
