15 Thousand Wuhan Migrant Workers Returning Home

The impact of the global financial crisis on migrant workers in our city is beginning.

Yesterday, the city labor and Social Security Bureau announced that about 15 thousand of the migrant workers in the city were affected by the crisis.

According to our understanding, about 692 thousand migrant workers in our city go out to work.

The labor and social security department recently launched a survey of returning migrant workers in 8 townships and townships in the city. About 49 thousand of the peasants worked outside the country. At present, 1081 people are returning home.

The number of people returning home accounted for 2.2% of the total number of migrant workers.

According to the estimated return rate, the labor and social security department estimates that about 15 thousand migrant workers are returning home.

Investigation shows that most of the returning migrant workers are workers in the coastal areas such as the Pearl River Delta, mainly from two types of enterprises: footwear, clothing and other consumer processing enterprises and mechanical and electrical processing enterprises.

The main reasons for returning home are enterprises shutting down, layoffs and lowering incomes.

According to our understanding, the labor market in our city is short of work 45 thousand all the year round.

Many of the enterprises that lack jobs are similar enterprises who work for migrant workers returning home.

Therefore, the labor and social security department said that 15 thousand migrant workers returning home had little impact on the employment environment in Wuhan, and could be "digested" by the employment market.

Labor and social security department believes that although the impact on employment in our city is very small, it does not rule out the real test of 8~9 next year.

The labor and Social Security Department of our city is highly concerned about this and endeavours to take measures such as unemployment control to minimize the impact.
