Eurozone Clothing And Footwear Retail Sales Fell From Last Month

According to the preliminary statistics released by the Eurostat, the retail sales in the euro area (15 countries) decreased by 0.8% in October compared with the previous month, a 2.1% decline compared with the same period last year.

Retail sales in the 27 EU countries declined by 0.3% in October compared with September, a decrease of 0.8% over the same period in 07 years.

Compared with the previous month, the euro area's retail sales of food and tobacco and liquor decreased by 0.5% in October, but the 27 countries in the euro area increased by 0.1%. The retail sales of non food products including textiles, clothing, footwear and daily necessities decreased by 0.9% in the euro area, and 0.7% in the 27 countries of the European Union.

Compared with the same period last year, the retail sales of food and liquor in the euro area decreased by 2.1% in October, while the retail sales of non food products dropped by 2.2%.

Retail sales of food and liquor in the 27 countries of the EU dropped by 1.2%, while retail sales of non food products dropped by 0.6%.

In the member countries that provided data, the largest increase in retail sales in October than in the previous month was 3.5% in Lithuania, 2.1% in Finland and 1.2% in Slovakia, while the largest drop in Spain was 2.3% in Spain, 2.2% in Latvia, and 2.1% in Luxemburg and Romania respectively.
