Clothing Remains The Focus Of EU'S Notification To China

In February 2009, the EU RAPEX system announced 153 product announces, of which 92 products were exported to China (excluding 23 items from China's Hongkong and Taiwan, China), accounting for 60.1%, far exceeding the other countries that were informed by products.

This month, I was informed that most of the products I exported to Europe were toys (46 items), which accounted for more than half of the EU's notification to China, followed by clothing, fabrics and fashion items (22 items), and third of the lighting facilities (5 items).

The main reasons for the announcement of toy products include the risk of asphyxia (20 items, easy falling off of small parts), chemical hazards (16, excessive plasticizer DEHP and DINP, excessive lead content, etc.), and the risk of injury (7 items, sharp parts or striking and sharp sharp parts).

The main reason for the notification of clothing, fabrics and fashion items is the risk of suffocation (11 items, the length of the rope for children's tops and caps is over standard), the chemical risk (6 items, two methyl fumarate), and the risk of injury (4 items, the waist length of children's clothing exceeds the standard).

The main reason for lighting notification is the risk of electric shock (4 items, poor insulation).

The products mentioned above were ordered to take corrective actions except for the children's clothing whose length of rope was over standard. Two of them were still required to withdraw from the market and recall the products they had sold. Other kinds of products had either voluntarily or passively withdrawn from the market and recalled the products that had been sold. Products that had not yet entered the EU market were directly refused to be imported by the customs.
