AQSIQ Announces Quality Of Imported Garments In The First Half Year

On the morning of August 27th, AQSIQ held a regular press conference.

Li Jing, director of the Information Office of the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine, announced the quality of imported garments in the first half of 2014.

It shows that in the first half of 2014, the value of imported clothing imported from the national inspection was 2 billion 760 million USD. The inspection and quarantine departments seized 12305 cases of unqualified imported garments, with an amount of US $47 million 667 thousand and 500. 396 of them involved quality and safety substandard (safety, hygiene, environmental protection and anti fraud projects). The quality and safety of imported garments should not be ignored.

The "fast fashion" brand is still unqualified.

Among the 396 imported garments with unqualified quality and safety, among the top 5 brands with the highest number of unqualified batches, 4 were "fast fashion" brands, namely, FOREVER 21, ZARA, H&M and MANGO. The number of unqualified ones was 107, accounting for 27.02% of all unqualified ones.

Some items are not qualified.

In 12305 cases of import clothing quality and safety risk information, 1442 cases of infant clothing unqualified information, accounting for 11.72%.

Statistics show that the proportion of children's clothing is not large enough, and the pH value is not easy to stimulate children's skin easily, and then cause skin diseases.

The failure to use Chinese instructions is serious.

According to the regulations of China, the instructions for importing garments must conform to the GB5296.4-1998 instructions for the use of textiles and clothing.

In the risk information of import clothing quality and safety, the overwhelming majority of the unqualified reasons are unqualified in Chinese instructions, accounting for more than 97% of the total garment disqualification, which is the primary reason for the quality problems of imported garments.

Chinese usage instructions are the primary channel for consumers to obtain information about product quality and safety.

The choice and use of consumers is an important manifestation of the weak sense of responsibility of the enterprises in terms of product quality and safety.

The origin of unqualified imported garments is relatively concentrated.

Judging from the origin, the clothing quality and safety cases originating in Italy are the highest, and there are more unqualified batches in neighboring developing countries such as Vietnam, Korea and Bangladesh.
