China Fashion Designers Association: Design Innovation From The Fashion Week Of College Students

How to build the platform of China International Fashion week for college students and how to connect it with the design education in Colleges and universities?

In August 22nd, the 2014 annual working conference of the academic committee of China Fashion Designers Association was held in Kunming.

The 28 members of the participating academic members and faculty representatives focused on the theme of "Fashion Week phenomenon and the essence of design - the design education from the fashion week of college students", and fully affirmed the two fashion week for college students, and put forward some pertinent opinions and suggestions.

Li Dangqi, chairman of the China Fashion Designers Association, and vice chairman and Secretary General Zhang Qinghui attended the meeting.

Cultivate new talents and play an academic leading role

"Training professional talents and mining new designers" is a Chinese fashion designer.

Serving the industry and brand development is also the focus of the academic committee.

The academic committee's 2013-2014 annual work report pointed out that in the past year, the academic committee has organized 10 professional competitions and awards, and has made a new attempt to promote and train athletes after the games.

The academic committee has also actively organized local government organizations and relevant trade associations to build a platform for cooperation between industry, academia and research through organizing competitions and training seminars.

The work report reviewed and summarized the two China International Fashion week.

2014 China International Fashion Week participated in 24 institutions, including 2 foreign institutions, which promoted international exchanges.

On this fashion week, the academic committee held two thematic summit activities, and collected and published essays, playing an academic leading role in the Committee.

As for the work of the future academic committee, Zhu Shaofang, assistant president and director general, put forward three ideas: the key teachers who attract more colleges and universities to join the academic committee, build platforms for the exchange of teachers and institutions, create more opportunities for the interaction between colleges and enterprises, deepen the activities of the academic forum of international fashion week, expand the level of communication, and promote the integration of production, teaching and research; and carry out technical training in joint colleges and universities.

Efforts should be made to further improve the quality of teachers.

Creative thinking is needed in design education

At the meeting, the theme of "Fashion Week phenomenon and design essence - the design education from the fashion week of college students" was introduced. Members from 4 colleges and universities delivered keynote speeches. The other members of the Committee talked about the changes in the clothing industry environment and the teaching practice of their respective institutions, and put forward good suggestions for the diversification of College Students' Fashion Week activities, the academic committee's academic guidance and professional control.

In the keynote speech, Professor Xiao Wenling, director of dyeing and clothing department of Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, pointed out that with the rapid development of information technology and the advent of the era of big data, the production of non standardized products and diversified services will be the characteristics of the future. The structure of clothing industry, including the way of design, will undergo drastic changes. This poses new requirements for students' knowledge structure, quality and skills, and the curriculum structure and teaching system of colleges and universities may be rebuilt.

He said that in the fashion week of college students, students should publish their works differently from what people used to see in the past.

Xu Qingqing, Professor of the school of art engineering, Xi'an Polytechnic University, believes that the ultimate goal of fashion week should be a platform for communication and resource sharing. The platform for the free collision of academic ideas will benefit students and teachers.

Professor Zheng Rong and Dean of Dalian Institute of technology clothing college professor Pan Li, combined with the experience of fashion week, talked about the problems encountered in the design education and new exploration.

Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology is from thinking about the future of the students, including the employment environment and the development of space, to adjust the direction of students training, and extend the specialty to cultural and creative industries and scientific research and cooperation industry.

The Dalian Polytechnic University takes the fashion week as the practical teaching platform and integrates it into the practical teaching plan. In the process, it integrates several professional advantages resources and makes concerted efforts.

Professor Pan Li believes that in the future fashion week, we must uphold its school running concept and have its own characteristics.

In his concluding speech, chairman Li stressed that under the current market environment, enterprises and brands should be emphasized on design. This is an important opportunity for the growth of designers. In this process, the academic committee should play a leading role in academic research.

He pointed out that the University fashion week in the future should be innovated in the form of publication to meet the diverse needs of colleges and universities. The academic committee should strengthen professional reviews to make fashion week play a greater role in promoting university exchanges and university students' employment.
