Fortuna has established an independent department specializing in the production of PU (polyurethane leather) leather shoes. Now it has exported 700 thousand pairs to h&m, and 800 thousand pairs will be shipped in March next year.
He said that PU skin is an artificial material that looks similar to the real leather, but the price is less than 1/3 of the genuine leather.
The cost of a pair of Pu shoes is 3.2 dollars, while the cost of leather shoes is about $9. Similarly, the cost of a pair of Pu Boots is 10 dollars, while the cost of leather shoes is 30 dollars.
Tahir, President of Bangladesh's finished leather, leather goods and footwear Exporters Association, also said he was planning to increase his company night shift personnel to meet the huge demand of this non-traditional footwear.
He said another reason for the rapid rise in demand for such shoes is that the number of substandard products in leather factories is too high, leading to an increase in demand for non leather goods.
