A number of powerful exhibition enterprises in China, such as CIEC-China International Center Group Co, Italy Milan exhibition company subsidiary, China Expo exhibition, Limited by Share Ltd, have been stationed in Haikou. The number and level of conference and exhibition service enterprises have been significantly improved, and the Convention and exhibition industry system has initially formed in Haikou.

In 2002, the Convention and exhibition industry in Haikou was really started. Under the high attention of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government, the development of the exhibition industry has obviously accelerated. The number and scale of the exhibition are growing at an annual rate of nearly 30%. Now, there are more than 200 large-scale conferences and exhibitions held annually, and more than 6 thousand of the conferences have been held.

With the continuous maturity of the market, the level of specialization and internationalization of mice has been continuously improved, and the role of MICE industry in promoting economic and social development in Haikou has been significantly enhanced. According to media reports, by the end of 2015, Haikou had striving to create 1 International Forum brands, 2 to 3 famous exhibition brands and 3 to 5 important international large fixed meetings, making the exhibition industry an important driving force and a new economic growth pole to promote the green rise of Haikou's economic development.
