Dong Wenmei: Pformation From Doctor "Cross Boundary" To "Queen Of Children's Wear"

I recall the experience of going down to Guangzhou to dream when I put down my iron rice bowl.

Dong Wenmei is deeply aware of the difficulty of pursuing dreams in the south.

A short hair, wearing a tailored white shirt and a dry dark blue windbreaker, looks very professional.

Her T100 children's wear office is located on the 40 floor of Gao de winter Plaza in Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou. Outside the landing window, there is "little waist waist" called Canton Tower shining in the afterglow of the setting sun.

17 years ago, when she came to Guangzhou from Chongqing, she did not have such an office environment on such a tall scale.

In 17 years, the urologist who took the scalpel from her hand turned to be a fashion designer and entrepreneur. Every time, "crossover" pformation meant that she had taken a step closer to her dream.

A designer who loves "smug" from childhood

Dong Wenmei grew up to love the world.

When she was 7 years old, she secretly bought some cloth with her pocket money and started making new clothes for dolls.

In junior high school, she tried to design clothes for the first time.

This is a white riding suit with no collar and lantern sleeves. She went to school on the same day and asked where she bought it.

Since then, she has buried a dream of dress design.

When I was in college, Dong Wenmei wanted to register for Beijing Institute Of Fashion Technology, but was opposed by his family.

Father scoffed at her ambition: "what is the future of tailoring?" Dong Wenmei failed his father and finally made a report to Medical University Of Chongqing.

After graduation, she was assigned to the Nantong Mining Bureau hospital in Wansheng and became a urologist, but her dream was not shattered.

"When I was in college, I secretly signed up for an elective course in clothing, and I also took a minor course in clothing. Even when I was a doctor, I sometimes itch to pick a knife and scissors."

Dong Wenmei said.

Put down the scalpel and pick up the knife.

Two years later, Dong Wenmei found that he could no longer endure the work of the hospital: "every day, facing life, illness, death, even if the income is good, but this is not the life I want."

She decided to resign.

This idea was immediately opposed by parents, but this time, Dong Wenmei decided not to be a "good girl" again.

In 1998, she went to Guangzhou to become a fashion designer.

Her first order was made effortlessly.

"I wear my own design skirt, go to the office to turn, and soon became the wholesale business."

In this way, she sold more than 1000 skirts and earned the first gold in her life.

"In the first month, you earn a doctor's income for a year."

To make OEM designs for foreign brands, plus

Dong Wenmei's clothing business is getting bigger and bigger.

But the dream in her heart is still not perfect: "it is a great pity for me to be a designer when I do not have my own brand for others."

Transformation to build a children's clothing Kingdom

In 1999, when Dong Wenmei's daughter was born, she found a problem: it is difficult to get a good and beautiful children's clothing in the market.

She sprouted an idea, why not build her own children's clothing brand?

Dong Wenmei picked up the cloth knife again. This time, she designed a small black and white dress. Her daughter felt comfortable after trying it on.

This has become the prototype of the T100 children's wear brand. "T is the clothing T stage, and the 100 is 100 points. I hope everyone can put on my children's clothes and get 100 points on the stage of life."

To build a brand, it is inevitable to enter the shopping mall.

At the beginning, every shopping mall turned Dong Wenmei out of the door. "Wait for your popularity, then talk about it."

But Dong Wenmei did not give up. Later, she came up with a bold idea to put children's clothing shop into the airport.

In 2003, Dong Wenmei's first store opened at Guangzhou Baiyun Airport.

Unexpectedly, the shop with a business area of only 3 square meters sold only 7000 yuan in 3 hours. Some clothes were ordered by customers before they were hung up, and the monthly income reached 200 thousand yuan.

Dong Wenmei, who broke the deadlock, began to conquer new positions in one family: Beijing Capital International Airport, Guangzhou Friendship Store...

Now, she has opened 300 T100 children's clothing stores throughout the country, and can see the T100 children's wear in the Jiangbei Airport in Chongqing, and in the department stores such as Chung Bai and Wangfujing.

Help more designers in Chongqing dream

Looking back on the way to abandon the iron rice bowl and go all the way south to dream, Dong Wenmei felt more and more young designers were not easy.

"I admire talented and dreamy designers, and are willing to provide T100 platform for them to dream."

Wu Pan, who is now a designer of T100, is also from Chongqing.

She told reporters that when he came to Guangzhou four years ago, he was still a little girl who had just graduated. She lived in a company dormitory without any relatives. She often wanted to cry.

"Dong Jie is very concerned about me, not only teaches me to recognize fabrics, but also often takes me to a restaurant to eat home cooking, and feels like a big sister."

Now, she has grown from a small design assistant to a designer, and her income has also increased by 6 times.

Dong Wenmei said that if a company has a certain strength, it should do more for the society.

"If possible, I hope to contribute to more young designers from home, and help them grow."

Now, Dong Wenmei has a new impulse. She tries to extend her paternity concept from clothing to education.

I hope Chongqing will become a fashion capital.

Reporter: do you have any influence on your experience in being a doctor?

Dong Wenmei: doctors love cleanliness. This has great influence on my children's clothing. There are two more safety procedures for each piece of clothing: clothing is cleaned and sterilized after medical treatment.

My husband turned out to be a doctor and later went to sea with me.

He is responsible for process management, which is more rigorous than mine.

However, he loved the profession of doctors, and the workers in the factory were sick, and he would help them see a doctor.

Reporter: are your parents still opposed to your career?

Dong Wenmei: when I left the sea, my dad said that the tailor had no future.

Now he doesn't say anything, but he's still proud of me.

Reporter: what are your suggestions for developing fashion industry in Chongqing?

Dong Wenmei: in the eyes of outsiders, Chongqing is a "food capital", but I hope it will become a "fashion capital".

Chongqing people have inspiration, but there is still a lack of creativity. Clothing management can not simply rely on design, but also learning philosophy, art, architecture, management and so on.
