The annual shareholders' meeting of Hermes International Group implemented its promise a year ago.

On Tuesday, PETA French spokeswoman Isabelle Goetz asked the chief executive Axel Dumas and the board of directors of the luxury group at the 2015 financial year shareholders meeting of Hermes International Group in Paris. "Will Hermes stop using the animal skins (making products) one day?"

As we all know, the Hermes group's famous Birkin bag has been produced by crocodiles and ostrich skin, and the group has been accused by PETA of its crocodile skin and ostrich skin supplier's feeding and slaughtering process.

It even caused Jan Birkin's concern and inquiry. Jane Birkin once asked Hermes to rename the alligator skin Birkin Bag.

Despite the eventual relationship between Hermes international and Jane patten, the latter's "forgiveness" can continue to be used to name the brand's best-selling package, but the supply chain management still gives the luxury industry a wake-up call.

At the shareholders' meeting, the Axel Dumas, chief executive officer of Hermes group, said that the work of the luxury group and its farm partners was entirely in line with the responsibility requirements. It also claimed that it not only required its suppliers to comply with international standards (raising and slaughtering), but also demanded that their suppliers meet the standards of the Hermes group, and the standards of Hermes group were stricter than those of the international standard.

However, as the new family successor of the CEO position of Hermes group, Axel Dumas's statement is obviously very difficult to convince, because PETA has had several undercover Hermes group and Prada suppliers, and has taken videos. The Hermes group had previously acknowledged that there was a violation in the slaughtering process of its Dezhou breeding farm, but said it belonged only to "individual" events.

Compared with PETA's entanglement, Axel Dumas should be more worried about the current downturn in the luxury goods market, because shareholders should pay more attention to this.

In the first quarter of March, Hermes group's revenue was 1 billion 190 million 700 thousand euros. The French luxury group is slowing down in all international markets outside Europe, and it relies solely on the largest leather sector to support growth. The prospect is worth worrying.
