China'S ASEAN Trade Volume Fluctuates In The Global Economic Downturn

The trade between China and ASEAN has been greatly influenced by the international market.

The recent global economic downturn has led to a weak market demand in developed countries such as Europe and the United States, which has weakened trade between China and ASEAN.

One of the specific forms of industrial cooperation is various industrial parks all over China and ASEAN countries.

In an interview, Xu Ningning used China Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, Tianjin eco city and Sino Singapore (Chongqing) interconnection project as a typical project of bilateral cooperation.

In addition, there are a large number of Chinese investment in Thailand's Luo Yong Industrial Park and the special economic zones of the Kampuchea port of Sihanouk.

At the high-level forum on China ASEAN capacity cooperation held in Nanning, Guangxi in June this year, China Economic and Social Council director Xiao Zhen Sheng revealed that China's Chinese enterprises are currently building 23 investment projects with the nature of foreign trade and economic cooperation in 8 ASEAN countries, including 6 Indonesia, 5 Vietnam, 2 Malaysia, 1 Thailand, Burma and Brunei, and the total investment of 1 billion 520 million US dollars has attracted 421 Chinese enterprises by the end of the year.

In addition to investing and building factories, China still has a large number of infrastructure projects in ASEAN, such as light rail, fast track, highway, airport and port.

In addition, there are a lot of energy construction projects.

In an interview with reporters, Bai Xue min, director of Singapore's national energy market administration, said ASEAN countries need to further develop their electricity and energy resources and China's production capacity.

"ASEAN needs us $2 trillion and 500 billion investment in the energy market in the next 20 years."

    Bai Xuemin thinks.

This shows that China and ASEAN still have huge room for development in the field of investment and trade.

Moreover, on the forum, representatives of various countries also put forward cooperation areas with China according to their own economic conditions.

For example, Xie Wudi, Deputy Secretary General of the Kampuchea Development Council, said in his speech that Kampuchea is looking forward to cooperating with China in agriculture and services.

With a relatively mature industrial park and a clear investment intention, the next step is to make the cooperation more elaborate and fully tap the potential.

Since the establishment of dialogues between China and ASEAN in 1991, the two sides have achieved fruitful economic and trade cooperation.

At present, China is already the largest trading partner of ASEAN.

ASEAN is China's third largest trading partner.

According to Xu Ningning, executive director of the China ASEAN Business Council, there are several obvious characteristics in this kind of economic and trade cooperation.

First, there is a structural imbalance between China and ASEAN's import and export commodities.

China has imported a large number of resource products from ASEAN countries, such as Vietnam's coal mines, Indonesia's bauxite, Burma's timber and so on.

China exports large quantities of manufactured goods and consumer goods to ASEAN.

This trade structure once attracted the rebound of ASEAN member countries, which led Vietnam and Indonesia to tighten their exports to China.

Second, China's investment in ASEAN is beneficial to the development of the third party market.

Some ASEAN countries enjoy the GSP of the European Union or the United States. Their products are exported to the European and American markets and enjoy low tariffs or even zero tariff preferences. The export of products from ASEAN countries to Europe and the United States is very little affected by anti-dumping. Chinese investors used this to build some garment factories in ASEAN countries, such as the Kampuchea Sihanouk Special Economic Zone, which benefits the products to gain the cost advantage and export to Europe and the United States. In Thailand, the factory produces the products that the European and American countries "anti-dumping" against China.

Thirdly, the multinational companies in developed countries are pferring their product assembly factories from China to ASEAN countries. However, the latter still needs to import semi-finished products, spare parts and accessories from China to form a Chinese side to ASEAN.

    surplus

"We have more trade and more intermediate products.

Some terminal products are sold to Europe and America. They are the main consumer market of our products, whether they are clothing, shoes, electronic products or resource processing products.

The slow growth of the world economy and the depression of the European and American markets have directly affected the trade volume between China and ASEAN.

    Xu Ningning told reporters.

At the same time, the decline in commodity prices is also a negative factor. The prices of resource products such as oil, natural gas, coal, rubber, rice, palm oil and other traditional exports of Southeast Asia have dropped. "This has made China import some products from Southeast Asia, but the volume of trade has been reduced, and the demand for some Southeast Asian products such as petroleum and coal has declined and imports have been reduced."

    Xu Ningning said.

Another reason for the decline in bilateral trade is that China's relevant production plants move to Southeast Asia.

Originally, the low-end manufacturing industries set up by multinational companies in China, such as clothing, shoes and caps, moved to Southeast Asia.

"It turned out that (after the production of multinational corporations) in China, there was a trade relationship with ASEAN countries, which changed and moved to the other side."

    Xu Ningning further commented.

In this way, it turned out to be China multinationals.

    ASEAN

The triangular trade relationship has become a bilateral relationship between pnational corporations and ASEAN, which has affected the trade volume between China and ASEAN.

Because of the low production cost in some Southeast Asian countries, some Chinese enterprises have moved their factories to Southeast Asia, where they are producing direct exports.

Xu Ningning stressed that although the volume of trade between China and ASEAN has declined, the volume of trade between China and ASEAN accounts for a slight increase in the total volume of foreign trade in China.

The good news is that in the third quarter, coal and other commodity prices showed signs of bottoming out.

"The growth of trade volume between China and ASEAN is conducive to the sustained growth of bilateral investment.

The promotion of bilateral trade growth can not only wait for the external changes of the world economy to pick up, but also focus on China and ASEAN economies.

    cooperation

    The internal solution.

Xu Ningning, who has long been engaged in business pactions between China and ASEAN, said.

He suggested that the two sides should further organically integrate the construction of the maritime Silk Road in twenty-first Century with the ASEAN economic community. The two sides should earnestly implement the China ASEAN Free Trade Area upgrading agreement and further open the service trade market, the investment market and the goods trade market, and strengthen the industrial cooperation between China and ASEAN.

Xu Ningning believes that bilateral in-depth development cooperation needs to start from the following aspects.

"Industrial qualification docking, industrial planning communication, identifying the starting point of complementary advantages, and upgrading the value of industrial chain."

    He told reporters.

In addition, it is also necessary to "trade associations first" and do more detailed communication at the industry level.

Only at this level of communication can the two sides clarify specific cooperation objectives and refine cooperation measures.

The last point is that we need to push forward bilateral implementation of various supporting measures and unify standards.

"Financial, pportation, logistics, standards, qualification and business consulting cooperation should be matched up."

On this issue, Lu Rongkai, chief executive of Jinsui agriculture in Guangxi, deeply agreed.

The company has been visiting Kampuchea for nearly ten years.

Due to the lack of local inspection and quarantine capacity, Jinsui worried that the product could not be exported, so it was too late to invest.

In the World Wide Web reporter's interview in Nanning, Lu Rongkai suggested that China and ASEAN as soon as possible to speed up the docking of inspection and quarantine standards and related personnel training.

Xu Ningning expressed confidence in the prospects of China ASEAN trade: "the China ASEAN Business Council has already experienced the growing enthusiasm of both sides in assisting bilateral capacity cooperation and industry docking.

I believe the upcoming joint statement on China ASEAN capacity cooperation will bring economic cooperation and regional economic growth to a new stage.
