"I personally believe that the share of China's textile and apparel industry may continue to decline," Cao Jiachang said. "This is not what I want to see as president of the chamber of Commerce, but it must also accept this reality." But he stressed that this is a decline in the adjustment process of the Chinese government and the textile and garment enterprises themselves in promoting the "upgrading of quality and efficiency", improving the export structure and promoting the innovation driven development of enterprises. Global buyers' orders have gradually shifted to strategic changes in Southeast Asia and Africa, and have also had an impact on China's textile and garment enterprises.
Cao Jiachang said that China is still the world's largest producer and exporter of textile and clothing. But he hopes that through more global cooperation, China's textile and garment production capacity can be transferred to provide textile and apparel services to the whole world. He believed that under the promotion of the Chinese government's "high quality development" strategy, the textile industry should be promoted.
