At present, China's textile and apparel production accounts for 36% of the world's total, while fiber processing has reached 50% of the world's total.

Sun Ruizhe, President of the China Textile Industry Federation, pointed out at the 2018 China Textile Innovation annual meeting held in recent days that it is foreseeable that the global position of China's textile industry will not be replaced in the next 10 years or even 20 years, and China's textile industry has become a supporting force for the smooth development of the world's textile industry.

The 40 year of reform and opening up is the 40 year from the scale development to the quality leap of the textile industry, including the upgrading of manufacturing capacity and the pformation and development of industrial structure.

Sun Ruizhe believes that in the past 40 years, the pillar role of the textile industry in the national economy has not changed.

Statistics show that from 2001 to 2017, the net earning of textile industry accounted for more than 75% of China's total trade surplus, and made outstanding contributions to the smooth operation of national economy and the rapid development of new and high technology.

Sun Ruizhe said: "during the 40 years of reform and opening up, the textile industry has actively integrated into the trend of globalization and has grown into one of the highest industrial sectors in China with the highest degree of openness and internationalization.

The opening road of China's textile industry has witnessed the expansion of the industry from the products going out, the capacity going out, the capital going out and the brand going out.

Nowadays, a large number of textile enterprises' investment along the "one belt and one road" has witnessed a new pattern of comprehensive opening up and development of the textile industry.

Data show that from 2013 to the first three quarters of 2017, the total investment of China's textile industry to the "one belt along the road" is US $5 billion 494 million, which accounts for about 84.71% of the total foreign investment of the textile industry in the same period.

Sun Ruizhe pointed out that with the pition from the planned economy to the market economy, reform and opening up stimulated the vitality of the textile industry.

In the 40 years of reform and opening up, the textile industry has grown into one of the most industrialized sectors in China. Private textile enterprises have become the backbone of supporting the development of the industry.

In terms of capital structure, foreign capital and private capital account for more than 96%, and state capital is less than 4%.

The 40 year of reform and opening up is also the 40 year of the textile industry's innovation and development.

The textile industry always regards science and technology as the first productive force, and constantly deepens its independent innovation.

Recalling the landmark events in the textile industry's scientific and technological innovation, Sun Ruizhe was very familiar with the annual conference of innovation: "in the past two years, our carbon fiber project has won the first prize of national science and technology progress; the digital factory has won the first prize of national science and technology progress."

Every three to four years, the textile industry will win the first prize of national science and technology progress.

In addition, the textile industry has also seen significant improvements in key products and productivity. Our carbon fiber products account for 1/3 of the world's output.

There is another important symbolic number, that is, the ten thousand spindles employed in cotton spinning. It was 300 in the middle of 80s, and now it has been reduced to 50 to 60 people.
