You Know What? Worn Out Sneakers Can Also Be Used For Making Carpets.
What happens when sneakers wear out?
Throw it away?
Don't worry, sports brand Adidas finds a good home for the old sneakers.
With the rise of the sports movement, there are several pairs of sneakers in everyone's shoes cabinet. It is not hard to speculate that there are a lot of sports shoes in the world. So how do these sneakers be worn out?
If you can collect these sports shoes and make something useful, it must be an interesting and meaningful thing.
So Adidas commissioned the Holland designer Simone Post to carve these worn sneakers.
These old sports shoes were first collected by a German company, I:CO, which specializes in the collection of clothing and shoes from all over the world, and made into small rubber mats. Then Post made these semi-finished products into Adidas carpet.
In addition to the flexibility and strength of the material, Post also added some motion elements to the design of the carpet.
According to the requirements of Post, I:CO has divided the rubber mattress into two black and white tones.
Post then designed the black and white striped carpet by blending different color ratios, and reinterpreted the unique stripes of Adidas.
Viewed from a distance, the stripes look only black and white, but when viewed close, you can see the colors of sneakers before they become carpet.
These striped carpets are an attempt to recycle waste sports shoes, and also explore the processing methods of different materials.
The carpet is now on display at the Adidas store on Champs Elysees street, Paris.
Designer Simone Post is famous for recycling and designing carpet.
In addition to the Adidas store, you can also see the display of recycled materials and carpets at the Rotterdam MaterialDistrict exhibition held in Rotterdam, Holland in from March 12 to 14, 2019.
