China'S Market Prospect Is Worrying, MUJI Exposes Quality Problems Again
Following the brand dispute, MUJI is again trapped in the food safety storm.

At the time of the press release, Muji (Shanghai) Commercial Co., Ltd. (MUJI China headquarters) responded to the incident alone, and did not respond much.
MUJI related responsible person pointed out that "propylene propylene oxide and acrylamide" mentioned in the report are not food additives, and there is no problem of illegal addition or excessive addition.
At present, the international standards for such substances are not specified.
The "hazelnut oatmeal biscuits" mentioned in the report "when imported, our company is qualified according to the relevant laws and regulations of China.
It is reported that this product has been detected carcinogens, sold under the Hongkong MUJI's Malaysia hazelnut oatmeal biscuits.
The content of epoxy propanol and acrylamide in the pre packaged samples that were not pre packaged or exempted from nutritional labels were the highest.
Official customer service said that the MUJI in Hongkong and the MUJI store in the mainland belong to two different branches. Therefore, there may be a slight difference in the type of products sold by stores. It is necessary to verify whether the product is available for sale in the mainland.
Today, the Beijing Commercial Daily reporter landed on MUJI's official website and found that the page showed that the product did not exist.
According to Lv Minyi, chief news officer of the Hongkong food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the content of propylene oxide and acrylamide in the Consumer Council's report is the highest content in the local food Codex Committee. However, the relevant codes have been established locally, and the relevant departments are also formulating the code of glycidyl ester.
If the food samples are taken for risk assessment after laboratory tests, it is shown that the food is not suitable for human consumption. The consumer committee has the right to request the seller to stop selling and recover the food.

In fact, this is not the first time that MUJI's products have been detected unqualified in the Chinese market.

In 2017, MUJI was exposed by CCTV 3. 15. The Japanese food sold by the shop came from the nuclear radiation area of Japan. It was listed as a prohibited import list. In 2018, a staff member of a MUJI store refused to cooperate with the local industry and Commerce Bureau for sampling inspection.
And shortly after, the local industry and Commerce Bureau informed the official website of the MUJI clothing quality inspection results, a total of 10 batches of clothing failed, involving fiber content, color fastness and other indicators do not match the problem.
In addition, last year, MUJI has been repeatedly complained about goods without labels, unmarked origin, material and usage, quality and worry, and a variety of electronic products, which are repeatedly complained by consumers, and do not provide after-sale service and poor consumption experience.
It is worth mentioning that, when word of mouth falls, MUJI's market performance has also declined rapidly.
According to the latest MUJI earnings data, the MUJI market in China showed a 4.1% decline in the third quarter of 2018, compared with the 2.2% decline in the two quarter.
As of November 2018, the Chinese market in the first three quarters of MUJI had a 1.5% decline over sales.
Ma Gang, a domestic fashion expert, told the Beijing Commercial Daily that after the detection problem, there will be many related effects on the development of MUJI in the Chinese market.
"MUJI's products have repeatedly triggered quality problems, indicating that there is not enough attention to such incidents within the enterprise."
In addition, MUJI still has a high price problem in the Chinese market.
Over the past year, MUJI has repeatedly lowered its selling price.
But performance has always been difficult to upgrade.
In view of this, Ma Gang believes that because of the globalization of enterprises like MUJI, most of them are scattered in the supply chain.
If enterprises fail to implement large-scale rectification, it is difficult to change the trend of declining performance.
"There are many differences between the Chinese market and the Japanese market. If the enterprises copy the original business marketing mode, it will be difficult to open up the situation in the Chinese market.
At the same time, it will take a long time to pay attention to and change the traditional concept of Chinese consumers to MUJI and thus to stimulate consumption. "
