The Overall Situation Of China'S Textile And Apparel Foreign Trade In 2018 Is Stable And Good.

    Textile And ClothingForeign Trade

On March 20, 2019, the three seven session of the China Cotton Association, Wang Weidong, director of the China Textiles Import and Export Association, said: in 2018, although the international trade situation is complicated and the overseas market is changing, it is gratifying that China's foreign trade in goods trade is generally stable and the quality of trade has improved.

The total value of foreign trade in goods amounted to US $4 trillion and 620 billion for the whole year, an increase of 12.6% over the same period last year. Of them, exports amounted to US $2 trillion and 480 billion, an increase of 9.9%, and imports of US $2 trillion and 140 billion, an increase of 15.8%.

In the field of textile and clothing, foreign trade has also achieved steady growth for two consecutive years.

In 2018, the export of textile and clothing was 276 billion 730 million US dollars, an increase of 3.7% over the same period, and imports of US $26 billion 140 million, an increase of 6.4% over the same period last year.

1, the export structure of products has changed, terminal products are declining, upstream products have advantages.

In 2018, China's textile exports amounted to $119 billion 100 million, an increase of 8.1% over the same period last year, and clothing exports were 157 billion 630 million US dollars, up 0.3% from the same period last year.

The export growth of upstream products and the slowdown in exports of end products are all the result of the shift of China's garment manufacturing industry and the increase in demand for Chinese yarn and fabrics due to the incomplete industrial chain in the peripheral low-cost garment producing countries.

In 2018, China's exports of yarn and fabric to Vietnam and Bangladesh surged by 19.3% and 21.5% respectively.

The Vietnamese market will continue to maintain US $9 billion in fabric consumption in the future.

2, the traditional market and the whole market will keep growing.

In 2018, China's textile and apparel exports to the three traditional markets of the European Union, the United States and Japan maintained an increase of 1.5%, 8% and 2.7% respectively.

In addition, the exports of the countries along the "one belt and one way" maintained growth for three consecutive years, an increase of 5.3% in 2018, an increase of 11.7% in ASEAN exports and the fastest growth in major markets.

3, private enterprises have become the main force.

In 2018, private enterprises were active and export grew by 5.1%, accounting for 68.3% of the total export volume, effectively stimulating the overall export growth of the whole year.

4, the import sector has accelerated the growth of clothing imports due to consumption promotion and tariff reduction.

With the advent of consumption globalization, the consumption potential of China's domestic market is constantly emerging. In 2016, China surpassed the United States for the first time and became the world's largest apparel retail market. The state has repeatedly lowered tariffs on imports. Since July 1, 2018, China has reduced import tariffs on textile and clothing by about 430 tax numbers, import tariffs have dropped from 14-16% to 6%, and tax cuts have been more than half.

In 2018, China's textile imports increased by 3%, clothing imports increased by 14.8%, and the overall import and export of textile and clothing maintained a relatively fast growth.

Last year, an import fair was held in due course. I believe there will be a big increase in imports this year.

The above aspects are positive aspects of the textile and garment industry, but we should also see that China's share of the major international market share has declined slightly.

From the perspective of Global trade, according to statistics from the world trade organization, global textile and apparel exports in 2017 amounted to 749 billion 440 million US dollars, and China exported US $268 billion 300 million, ranking the top in the international textile and clothing trade pattern, with a market share of more than 1/3.

China's textile and garment exports increased from 52 billion 700 million US dollars in 2001 to US $268 billion 300 million in 2017, an increase of more than 4 times.

Since China's integration into the multilateral trading system, China's share of global textile and clothing exports has soared to a peak of 38.5% in 2015, reaching a peak of 38.5% in 2015. With the rise of labor-intensive industries in Southeast Asian countries and the accelerated pace of "going out" of Chinese enterprises in recent years, the share has dropped slightly. China's share of international market share has fallen into two consecutive years, accounting for 36.7% in 2016 and 35.8% in 2017.

Among them, the share of textile trade dropped from 37.4% in 15 to 37.1%, and the share of clothing dropped from 39.3% in 2015 to 34.9% in 2017.

From a single market: in the first 11 months of last year, China's textile and apparel exports to the United States accounted for 36% of the US import market, 0.4 percentage points lower than the same period in 2017, while Vietnam's share was 10.6%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points compared to the same period last year. Last year, I accounted for 33% of the EU's import market share, a 1 percentage point decrease compared to the same period last year, while Bangladesh's share was 14.3%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points over the same period last year.

The market share of the relatively small developed countries, such as Canada and Australia, is 35.5% and 60.2% respectively, maintaining a steady state.
