    Today, the rapid development of infrastructure in all parts of the world, especially in Eurasia and the Middle East and Africa, has greatly increased the demand for Geotextile textiles worldwide.

      

    Since 2002, with the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects, geotextile textile materials have been developing rapidly, and this above average growth trend will continue in the next 10~15 years.

    Innovative applications developed by relevant manufacturers have also accelerated the development of this material.

    Geotextile textiles, as an important branch of industrial textiles, have achieved rapid development. Many kinds of innovative technologies, high-performance geotextiles, mining support materials and intelligent geomembrane materials have been applied. The application of integrated solutions such as soil reinforcement, structural safety monitoring and early warning has provided reliable support for the construction of infrastructure at home and abroad.

      

    The development of geotextile materials shows obvious regional characteristics: the North American region, the geosynthetics market is expected to continue to grow rapidly, and the pport infrastructure has become the largest market of geosynthetics in the world. The growth rate of Western Europe will be lower than that of other regions. The Eastern European region will benefit from the development of Russia. The Asian region will become the biggest contributor to the growth of the geotechnical textile market. The government of India is also trying to promote the development of local geotechnical materials. Saudi Arabia occupies the largest market for geosynthetics in the Middle East, but the changes in oil prices lead to fierce competition in the local market.

      

    Taking the development of China's geotechnical textiles as an example, the technical progress of domestic geotextile textiles is remarkable: the high strength, anti breaking, friction and acid resistant polypropylene geotextiles are widely used in the sliding layer materials of high speed rail. The intelligent geotextiles with optical fiber sensors can be used in airports, bridges and highways, which can provide the functions of soil reinforcement, structural safety monitoring and early warning, and are widely concerned and praised by downstream users.

      

    Why do we need to lay geotextiles and textile materials on the roadbed?

      

    (1) separation: geotextile can effectively prevent the mixing of soil materials, so as to avoid the mixture of different materials or the loss of soil particles, so as to protect the soft soil foundation.

      

    Filtration: geotextile can make the water flow freely without any pressure, but it can also prevent the loss of the fine grains of the soil, so as to avoid instability and erosion of some projects.     Li Lingshen, President of China Industrial Textiles Association, pointed out that the development direction of the geotextile textile industry is concentrated on the following aspects: strengthening the application and popularization of fire retardant high-strength, intelligent anti freeze and anti melting, multi-functional suction and drainage, high strength and anti-aging and other geo textile materials; developing and popularizing intelligent geotextile applications with information feedback and monitoring and warning functions; expanding the application of high performance two-component spunbonded nonwoven roof waterproof materials, building reinforcement materials and other products in the infrastructure construction of highways, railways, ports, water conservancy projects, and promoting the development and popularization and application of Geotextiles in such areas as ecological protection, livestock breeding, island development and so on.

      

    Popularization and Application

      

    Geotextiles are used for road construction.

    The key factors that affect the service life of highways and railways include environmental factors, roadbed conditions, widening and aging of roads. Geogrids, as a commonly used geotextile material, have the advantages of high tensile strength, good stability, corrosion resistance and anti-aging. They can be widely used in roadbed reinforcement fields such as highway roadbed reinforcement and railway roadbed reinforcement. The geogrids are lined with high performance yarns in the form of warp and zonal air crossing, and no interweave between warp and weft yarns can form 2 parallel gauze layers, so they play a vital role in the construction of new highways and the repair of old roads.

      

    Geotextile used for dam construction and protection.

    The composite geotextiles have excellent filtration and isolation functions. They are laid between the soil layer and the rubble of the protective embankment, which can prevent the soil from mixing with the gravel and keep the soil layer under relatively small pressure to protect the embankment from being eroded by the water.

    Warp knitted geotextiles are used in cement pipes.

    The high performance cement pipe reinforced by warp knitted axial fabric is obviously reduced due to the addition of high performance reinforced materials.

    Under the technical requirements of the same inner diameter and the same load-bearing capacity of cement concrete pipe, the wall of the reinforced concrete pipe reinforced by the warp knitted axial fabric is obviously thinner.

    It is found that when the thickness of carbon fiber reinforced cement is only 1/4 of steel reinforced cement thick bottom, it can resist the same external load as reinforced concrete.

    The warp knitted axial reinforced concrete pipe has good bearing capacity and crack resistance at the same time, which improves the impermeability and durability of the pipeline, and provides a new high-quality pipe for drainage works.

    It is worth mentioning that the warp knitted axial fabric reinforced high performance cement pipe will play a vital role in the construction of "sponge city", "underground city" and "underground comprehensive pipe gallery", which are being implemented in the country.

    This type of pipeline began to build 2000km above the urban underground pipe gallery in 2016.
