Davos Jingdong Zhou Bo Wen Describes AI+5G Opportunities And Challenges In Summer

The Thirteenth Annual Meeting of the new leaders of the World Economic Forum (the 2019 summer Davos Forum), with the theme of "leadership 4: the road to success in the new era of globalization", was held in Dalian International Conference Center yesterday. "5G will become a new kinetic energy for AI development". Zhou Bowen believes that under the 5G environment, the scale value of AI can be better displayed. 5G's characteristics of high bandwidth, low delay and wide coverage make it possible to realize the AI application which was hard to really land, such as automatic driving, telemedicine and other fields. At the same time, 5G also allows consumers to enjoy more good experience of application.

Zhou Bowen believes that high speed, high density and low latency are the three core characteristics of 5G. These three characteristics of 5G have given birth to industrial opportunities. Each 5G base station provides at least 20G and 10G downlink and uplink bandwidth. Each individual user's low downlink and uplink speeds reach 100M and 50M respectively, and the speed is much faster than that of 4G. 5G can realize massive device connection, and the connection density can reach 1 million units per square kilometre, and the device can directly connect D2D with the device in the network without directly communicating through the center. Theoretically, the end-to-end delay of 5G is only 1ms.

In the view of Zhou Bo Wen, 5G will become a huge power amplifier to release AI's application ability. AI will show social and commercial value in the 5G era.

First of all, from the perspective of social value, the deployment of 5G can make the equality between countries and regions, especially in the medical field. This year, the first precision medical operation based on 5G has been implemented in southern China. Through the 5G's "no delay", the surgeon controlled the remote mechanical arm to complete the operation, and the first remote operation was successfully made.

Secondly, in the field of consumer intuitive perception. In order to welcome the upcoming winter Olympics, the Jingdong AI team is conducting a research on the integration of AI technology and +5G technology to achieve thousands of live video streaming.

In the discussion of the 5G era, people inevitably focus on "fast". In Zhou Bo Wen's view, speed is only one of the characteristics of 5G. It is worth expecting that speed gives 5G the ability to greatly enhance the interconnection of devices. The swarm intelligence optimization and multi angle data sources after Interconnection will enhance and accelerate the integration process of artificial intelligence and real economy, so that the magnification meaning of "5G+ medical treatment", "5G+ logistics" and "5G+ municipal" can be realized.

"In every industry, there is a ready mind. They are prepared to subvert the industry with 5G technology." Zhou Bo Wen predicts that in the AI industry, 5G will help to form the "Ai" of Unicom and greatly enhance the scale effect of AI.

It is understood that Jingdong's Beijing headquarters is the first 5G Office Park in Beijing, which is implemented through 5G in work coordination, AI and VR, including some testing. In terms of logistics, the interconnection between machines can be realized.

What is worth looking forward to is that Jingdong will invest in the first 5G intelligent logistics demonstration park in China by November this year. Relying on 5G technology, it will build intelligent logistics demonstration park through AI, IoT, automatic driving, robotics and other intelligent logistics technology and product integration applications.

Zhou Bo Wen also said that when looking forward to 5G in various industries, we must also face up to the risks it brings. At present, the challenge facing the global 5G is that the cross border integration is still not enough, the relevant standards are deficient, the trade barriers between operators, equipment manufacturers and industrial Internet enterprises are still high, and the industrial ecology of integration and mutual promotion between enterprises has not yet formed. All these need further promotion and preparation.

"5G brings more than just the change of network speed. 5G's high-density interconnection of all things, the extremely low latency of milliseconds, combined with AI technology, can bring about a change in the way of thinking and business mode." As Zhou Bowen described, under the 5G environment, AI will usher in a new opportunity for large-scale and industrialized development.
