Shandong Starts "Cotton Insurance" Income Of Not Less Than 1216 Yuan Per Mu

Reporters learned from the Shandong Provincial Department of finance, Shandong Province recently launched the first cotton target price insurance pilot work, the use of "government + insurance + futures" to promote the market-oriented mode of cooperation, the role of financial leverage to defuse the cotton market risks, to protect cotton planting income, stabilize cotton production.

Shandong provincial finance department responsible person said, cotton target price insurance premium of 120 yuan per mu, Shandong Province financial security in full, do not increase the burden of cotton farmers. The insured target price is to guarantee the yield of cotton per mu not less than 1216 yuan. The insurance time limit is from September 1, 2019 to December 31st. The market price is based on the cotton bulk exchange price of the Zhengzhou commodity exchange. During this period, if the market price of cotton is lower than the target price, the difference will form a liability to pay, and the insurance company will make full payment to the insured cotton farmers in a lump sum. If the market price of cotton is higher than the target price, cotton growers will benefit from the market price, and the insurance company will compensate 50 yuan per mu to enhance the cotton farmers' sense of gain and cotton planting enthusiasm.

According to the introduction, the pilot work is arranged in the large cotton producing counties with strong willingness to buy insurance. The first batch of 6 counties (cities and districts) in Ji'nan, Pingyin, Dongying, Shouguang, Jining, Yutai County, Dezhou, Xiajin and Wucheng counties were launched to start the trial. All the cotton farmers in the pilot counties (cities and districts) can enjoy the insurance subsidy policy.
