    Professor Donghua Uses High-Tech To "Awaken" 2 Billion Tons Of Waste Textiles

    A few days ago, Wang Huaping, the vice president of the Research Institute of Donghua University, turned waste textile waste into treasure "China plan" -- the integrated technology of waste polyester high efficiency regeneration and fiber preparation industrialization, which attracted the attention of the twenty-first China International Industrial Exposition. The project has won the two prize of National Science and technology progress in 2018.

    Garbage sorting is now a hot topic in Shanghai and even in China. Statistics show that by 2020, the total reserves of waste textiles can reach nearly 2 billion tons, while the regenerated spinning capacity is only 10 million tons. How can we dig deeper into the "rich ore" of textiles and make waste textiles turn waste into treasure, so as to get through the recycling economy of the textile industry? Wang Huaping's plan can use high-tech to "awaken" 2 million tons of waste textiles.

    "Made in China 2025" clearly put forward the need to develop circular economy and improve the efficiency of resource recycling. At present, China's chemical fiber production accounts for 70% of the world's total, but the textile recycling rate is less than 10%. This is a difficult problem that puzzles the development of the industry, and is also a key issue for Wang Huaping team's scientific research.

    As a backbone, Wang Huaping took part in the research and formulation of "China's chemical fiber industry planning in 12th Five-Year and 13th Five-Year" and "2016-2030 China's textile science and technology innovation and development strategy". He has always been concerned about the pain and difficulties in the national chemical fiber industry. Hundreds of millions of tons of waste textiles are treated in a rough and rough way, such as incineration or landfill, which not only pollutes the environment seriously, but also wastes data.

    Turning waste into treasure requires technology to lead the way. As early as 2004, Wang Huaping focused on the "treasure" of waste textiles. In his eyes, it was just the wrong place resources. According to the China Federation of textile industry, if China's waste textiles can be recycled, it can save 24 million tons of crude oil and reduce 80 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, saving nearly 1/3 of the cotton planting area. However, there are several large mountains that need to be crossed before the recycling of waste textiles.

    For consumers, textile recycling is often equated with "black hearted cotton". Is there really a market for new clothes? For enterprises, how can the waste textiles of different origins, colors and textures realize large-scale industrialization on the basis of both cost and quality?

    Over the past 10 years, Wang Huaping has led the research team to "drill" with the spirit of Yu Gong Shan Shan. As the main technology leader, Wang Huaping is involved in launching the technological innovation alliance of China's chemical fiber recycling and recycling, bio based fiber and biochemical raw materials, and promoting the construction of the industry standardization system. If consumers have misunderstandings, they will tackle the problem in a down-to-earth manner and strictly control the "safety clearance" of recycled textiles. In addition, the technical problems such as regenerative fiber stability, quenching and tempering and regenerating technology, color change and color difference control have been tackled one after another...

    Wang Huaping has the bottom to say: "technically speaking, China's recycled fiber technology has been in the leading position in the world!" he led the team's first polyester textile physicochemical method to achieve efficient regeneration from fiber to fiber. The cost of regenerated polyester produced by the company is reduced by 25%, but its performance is comparable to that of the original polyester. It is entirely up to the requirements of ecological textile safety by professional agencies.

    After tackling technical difficulties, Wang Huaping, head of project technology, combined with Ningbo Dafa Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd., Jiaxing Haiyan Haili environmental protection Fiber Co., Ltd., Jiangsu excellent color environmental protection resource Polytron Technologies Inc and other enterprises.

    Chen Ye is the backbone of post-80s young teachers in the scientific research team. Following his visit to the factory and visiting enterprises, Wang has become a required course in his work. "It is necessary to write papers as well as process sheets, and familiarity with every flow in production process as an enterprise engineer".

    Today, the project has built the world's largest regenerated polyester fiber production base, producing 300 thousand tons of waste spinning regenerated staple fiber, 150 thousand tons of flask and regenerated filament, and 75 thousand tons of low melting point / regenerated polyester staple fiber annually. In the past three years, the unit has achieved sales of 7 billion 990 million yuan and exports of foreign exchange by US $261 million. Authorized 38 invention patents, published 10 scientific papers and 3 standard sets, achieved efficient recycling and high value utilization of waste polyester textiles in China, greatly improved the technical level of polyester regenerated fiber, and enhanced the image and status of China's textile recycling economy.

    It is understood that with the deepening of school enterprise cooperation, the application field of recycled polyester is also expanding. Cutting-edge technology has made the once unremarkable waste textiles "beautiful regeneration" not only widely used in automobile interior decoration, environmental protection clothing and other fields, but also has been applied in many fields such as sea crossing bridges, water conservancy dams, expressways, buildings and so on, with the advantages of high fiber strength, good color fastness and stable quality. Recycled polyester is no longer a substitute for low-end textiles. Instead, it achieves "bend overtaking" and "waste", and really leverages the recycling market of 100 billion yuan textiles.

    Wang Huaping said frankly that each award has been paid by the team for more than ten years. He often told members of the team that he should have a sense of "national team", what the national demand is and what we can do, so that we can maintain a sober scientific research mind. He revealed that the scientific research team is still tackling key problems and hopes to play the biggest role in the reuse of waste textiles in urban governance.
