    Textile IndustryChemical Fiber

It is understood that over the past 50 years, the amount of plastic used worldwide has increased 20 times, and is expected to double in the next 20 years. This material is cheap and widely used, but it also brings enormous environmental costs.

Compared with other materials, the utilization rate of plastics is very low. Only 14% of the plastics in the world are recycled, and the recycling rate of paper is 58%, and that of steel is 90%.

Plastic production accounts for 6% of the world's oil consumption and is expected to grow to 20% by 2050.

Plastic production is also widely used in the production process, mainly polyester fiber. Because of its fast drying and light weight, the material is favored by garment manufacturers.

In the context of global concern about garbage, both environmental organizations and enterprises in all walks of life have made commitments and actions.

Announcing the use of environmentally friendly recycled fibers or adopting a sustainable alternative can effectively fulfill corporate social responsibility on the one hand. On the other hand, it can also create topics for enterprises, attract attention, win consumer support, and do not lag behind competitors. It is a positive and positive marketing tool.

New commercial fiber developed in Dongli, Japan

Polyester faucet competing to develop regenerated polyester fibers

A few days ago, Japanese Dongli company developed a new type of commercialized fiber called "+ +". The successful development of the fiber will create a new world for the commercialization of waste PET plastic bottles.

The goal of Dongli is to promote the recycling of PET plastic bottles, and realize the closed loop economic development of the industry through the production of high value-added fiber.

Dongli plans to mark + + as a landmark product for the growing demand for PET plastic bottles and will be promoted to the global market.

At the same time, another important goal is to expand the application field of "+ +" high value fiber.

In the course of development, Dongli has developed a series of innovative technologies, such as Traceability Technology, to produce this high value-added plastic bottle derived white fiber.

It is mainly used in sports clothing, fashion, work clothes, household clothes, and consumer goods, which are strictly prohibited from using waste plastic bottles for the past due to pollution problems.

Dongli and Kyoei Industrial Company in Japan have developed pollution filtration technology and advanced cleaning technology to remove impurities and yellow tonal in raw materials and solve the yellowing phenomenon with aging of plastics.

The established recovery and identification system can detect additives in raw materials and ensure the reliability of raw materials from plastic bottles.

Dongli plans to build PET plastic bottle derived fiber production system through its global production plant and expand its application in fiber, fabric and apparel supply chain. Dongli will also build a new supply structure to meet the needs of sustainable development customers.

As part of the green innovation business expansion program, Dongli is constantly building its position in the energy saving, biomass, recycling and related sectors, and providing durable environmental, resource and energy solutions.

Adidas and other footwear giants announced that they only used recycled polyester in 2024.

Recently, Adidas CMO Eric Liedtke said Adidas will use recycled polyester fiber from its clothing and footwear products in 2024.

According to Adidas's plan, the utilization rate of recycled polyester will reach 41% in its spring summer clothing series in 2019.

In the past two years, Adidas has been working with a marine eco environmental organization named Parley for the Oceans to introduce running shoes Ultraboost Uncaged Parley made of marine plastic waste.

Last year it sold around 1 million pairs and is expected to reach 5 million pairs this year.

In September 2017, Nike introduced a new type of recycled leather material Flyleather, made of 50% recycled natural leather fibers and water, 40% lighter than ordinary leather, but five times the durability of ordinary leather, and 90% of the total water consumption in the whole production.

Nike has been recognized as the largest number of recyclable polyester materials in the industry for four consecutive years. In 2017, 75% of Nike's footwear and clothing products used recyclable materials.

In fact, apart from Adidas, Nike, Puma, Reebok and other sports brands also pushed the products made of recyclable shoes.

Nike's Nike Grind material is recycled from existing products and materials. In April 2017, Reebok launched a pair of environment-friendly concept shoes, made of organic cotton and sole made of industrial corn.

The market weathervane, the Shanghai exhibition, is a big trend for recycled and environmentally-friendly fabrics.

In the lower reaches of the polyester industry chain, the demand for recycled and environmentally-friendly fabrics has also increased significantly. Compared with conventional fabrics, the price of recycled fabrics is 50% higher than that of fabrics, and the price of finished fabrics is 80% higher than that of conventional fabrics.

But even at such a high price, the market is still in short supply of recycled fabrics. According to the twenty-fifth China International excipient exhibition just concluded, recycled and environmentally-friendly fabrics can be seen in the limelight.

According to the visit of exhibitors, Ms. Yang, a sales manager of a knitting enterprise in Wujiang, has a deep feeling about this. In the first half of this year, the company developed a recycled and environmentally-friendly fabric. The BCI cotton used for yarn was widely praised by the market. Once the list was soft, only a few cabinets could be produced in Bangladesh a week.

Zhang, who is responsible for the production of peach skin, is also a huge demand in the market.

More representative is that a weaving enterprise disclosed to Xiaobian. Now the machines of their factories are half and half new. The order of new machine woven regenerated fabrics is not enough at the end of the year. The old machines can only weave conventional fabrics, and now they are in stock for two months.

Opportunities and challenges exist for downstream enterprises to use recycled materials.

Polyester industry is facing a new shuffle!

There are more and more travelers on the road to sustainable green development.

Nowadays, with the shortage of industrial resources and the shortage of natural resources, the textile and garment industry is facing tremendous pressure and began to look for new environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative textile materials. Recycled fibers will undoubtedly become a trend.

But this is both an opportunity and a challenge for the polyester industry.

    One

    Downstream low value Industries Limited

For downstream applications of low value industries, such as chemical fibers, they may face enormous challenges.

Some enterprises may not be able to afford recycled polyester bottles because they are too expensive. The main reason is that bottle flakes are cleaned and graded, and many excellent quality products, such as grade A, 3A, 5A, etc., have already exceeded the value of fiber.

Because fiber value is inhibited by native fiber value, although some varieties are higher than native value, eighty or ninety of the product value is lower than native value, and there is no room for improvement. Industry differentiation and refinement, some enterprises will be greatly affected.

    Two

Demand for high-grade raw materials is strong.

In line with the sustainable development strategy advocated by international brands, raw materials processors or high-end brands not only refer to textile chemical fibers, but also refer to some packaging materials, such as profiles or membrane materials, which will have better room for development.

However, due to the restrictions of various policies on the export of waste plastics, China and Southeast Asia, polyester materials are facing the possibility of local digestion, and the utilization rate is increasing. Meanwhile, the demand for high-grade raw materials is unusually strong.

However, due to incomplete manpower and industrial chains and higher production costs, Southeast Asia's purchase of high-grade raw materials in Southeast Asia has resulted in high price of A-grade materials in Southeast Asia than downstream products.

At the same time, with the implementation of the strategy of "going all the way" and "going out", some countries with low labor costs and low raw material prices, such as Africa, may be copying the domestic road abroad.

The re division of labor and redefinition of countries may cause domestic industrial restructuring, which is a major blow to some enterprises, while some enterprises are a major opportunity.

How long will the chemical fiber industry enter the era of "100% green environmental protection"? 20 years? 30 years? 50 years? The answer may be 10 years, or even less time.
