Adidas Development And Recycling Business Mode
Adidas, a German sporting goods giant, has launched a new service that allows UK customers to trade second-hand or unused equipment, which helps to extend the life of the product and transfer the product to the fate of landfill.
The "Infinite Play" initiative was developed jointly by the London Waste and Recycling Board, LWARB, and QSA Partners, a recycling business consultancy. Customers can receive electronic gift cards or Creators Club points in exchange for adidas equipment through the APP application of Adidas.
Adidas also works with the consumer waste solution Stuffstr, which will be integrated into Adidas's existing app applications.
The recovered items will be resale or reclaimed. This service is the result of Adidas's collaboration with Stuffstr, an innovative social enterprise. It aims to provide customers with free collection or free mailing options to enable customers to conduct transactions quickly and easily.
Recycling and resale services such as Adidas Infinite Play is one of several circular business models that help companies create more value and profits while reducing environmental impact. Reuse (Reuse) helps to extend the life of the product and increase the effective life of clothing for 9 months, reducing the footprint of carbon, water and waste from 20% to 30% of the British garment industry each year.
Adidas said that because climate change has become a pressing issue for the public, brands and retailers, it is impossible to take immediate action to solve the risk of carbon footprint. A recent study found that 75% of respondents believe that sustainability is extremely important, and over 1/3 of consumers say they have changed their brand preferences based on brand advocating environmental protection and / or social practice.
As Adidas global brand strategy group, David Quass, director of business model innovation and brand partnership, said: "as a brand, we are aware of the many challenges posed by linear models". "When we talk about the topic of" throwing things ", we don't mean to throw them away. They only destroy things elsewhere. Our customers are also increasingly aware that consumption will have an impact on the planet and become more aware of the challenges ahead. They will ask how to be different. The Adidas Infinite Play we develop can provide customers with the best choice so that we can share responsibility for reducing carbon footprint, water footprint and waste footprint.
As part of C&A Foundation's Bridging the Gap, LWARB and QSA Partners are working with Adidas, Ted Baker and Baker to explore the business model of circular economy.
LWARB's Circular London Programme, head of James Close, said: "consider the fact that 350 thousand tons or 140 million pounds of clothing in the UK go into the landfill every year, while 30 billion worth of clothes lie behind our wardrobe." "Recycling and resale services such as Adidas Infinite Play can help businesses build customer loyalty while also partially mitigate the serious impact of the textile industry on climate change".
