The estimated annual per capita carbon dioxide emissions from the EU will be about 654 kilograms per year.

According to the European Environment Agency (European Enviro) Nment Agency) the new European Union has about 1.3 tons of material per year for clothing, footwear and home textiles, and its water consumption exceeds 100 cubic meters per year.

In its new content published in Textiles in Europe's circular economy, European textile production and consumption should be developed in a large-scale circular economy mode, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, resource use, and pressure on the natural world.

The study points out that according to the European Economic Area (European Eco) Nomic Area (EEA) specializes in the technical report on the European waste and materials in the green economy thematic Center (European Topic Centre on Waste and Materials in Materials), and the production and processing of clothing, footwear and home textiles sold in the EU in 2017. Each person uses about 1.3 tons of raw material and 104 cubic meters of water resources per person per year. Around 85% of the world's materials and 92% of water resources are used in other parts of the world.

For the consumption of water resources and the use of main materials, clothing, footwear and home textiles are the fourth largest consumption categories in the European Union, next to food, housing and transportation. The report pointed out that the same product category is second only to food, which will cause second major pressures on land use and cause considerable pollution of chemicals and water resources, including water washing caused by ultrafine fiber release, and negative social impacts.

It also indicates that the estimated annual per capita carbon dioxide emissions in Europe will be about 654 kilograms per year, which will make the textile related to private consumption the fifth largest source of carbon dioxide emissions. About four of these emissions occur outside the European Union.

EEA's briefing pointed out: "circular economy policy and plateau, such as ecological design and reuse, have the potential to mitigate the impact of textile production and consumption on the environment and climate. "The current EU policy requires Member States to carry out textile classification and recovery by 2025 and ensure that classified waste is not incinerated or buried. "

According to EEA, the circular business mode of textiles, such as leasing, sharing, recycling and resale, requires policy support to expand the scale, and actively solve the problems of material design, production distribution, use and reuse, recycling and recycling. This can include policies such as sustainable production and product policy, ecological design and durability standards, green public procurement, safety and sustainable materials, waste prevention, extended producer responsibility, and labeling and standards.
