Today, the State Intellectual Property Office and the National Bureau of statistics issued a joint announcement. In 2018, the added value of the national patent intensive industry was 107090 billion yuan, accounting for 11.6% of the gross domestic product (GDP). This is the first time that China has officially released the added value data of the national patent intensive industries, marking the formal establishment of the value-added accounting and publishing mechanism of China's patent intensive industries.
According to the person in charge of the strategic planning department of the State Intellectual Property Office, in order to fully reflect the development of China's patent intensive industries, the added value data released in this publication is calculated based on the results of the fourth national economic census based on the statistical classification of intellectual property (patent) intensive industries (2019) (National Bureau of statistics Order No. twenty-fifth).
According to the nature of economic activities, China's patent intensive industries are divided into seven categories. Specifically, the added value of the new equipment manufacturing industry is 32833 billion yuan, accounting for 30.7% of the added value of the patent intensive industry. The added value of the information and communication technology manufacturing industry is 21551 billion yuan, accounting for 20.1%; the added value of the information and communication technology service industry is 19472 billion yuan, accounting for 18.2%; the added value of the new material manufacturing industry is 14130 billion yuan, the proportion is 13.2%; the added value of the medical and medical industry is 946 billion 500 million yuan, the proportion is 8.8%; the added value of R & D, design and technical services is 721 billion 500 million yuan. The proportion is 6.7%; the added value of the environmental protection industry is 242 billion 400 million yuan, accounting for 2.3%.
At present, compared with traditional labor, capital and other factors, intellectual property is playing an increasingly important role in economic development as compared with traditional labor and capital. The developed countries pay more attention to giving play to the leading role of intellectual property in economic development. Us and EU studies show that intellectual property intensive industries are important factors that drive economic growth and maintain economic competitive advantage. In the future, economic and social development must rely largely on intellectual property intensive industries.
The State Intellectual Property Office (IPR) will promote the development of intellectual property intensive industries as an important task. In collaboration with the National Bureau of statistics, the statistical classification of intellectual property (patent) intensive industries (2019) was developed and implemented in April 1, 2019. On this basis, the two bureaus jointly set up the value-added accounting and publishing mechanism of the patent intensive industries. The added value data released in this report indicate that China's patent intensive industry is an important supporting force for China's economic growth, and provides a strong driving force for the development of high quality economy.
The person said that statistics on intellectual property rights will continue to highlight high quality development requirements, focus on promoting the deep integration of intellectual property rights and economic development, continuously improve the statistical data dissemination mechanism of patent intensive industries, publish annual patent intensive industries value added data, and provide statistical data for timely reflection of the progress of new industries' growth and support and scientific decision-making of government. 。
