Kai Yun Group Plans To Run Its Own Manual Embroidery Workshop In India.

The French luxury giant Kering plans to return some of the local hand embroidery business in India to the inside itself (and still rely on local small subcontractors), and set up its own manual embroidery workshop in India to meet the needs of the group's brands, enhance the professional level of the group in embroidery, and improve the working conditions of India craftsmen.

Over the past few years, the luxury group, including the opening of cloud, has made great efforts in improving the local working conditions in India. But Kai Yun believes that "although great progress has been made, the pace is too slow". The Kai Yun group decided to take more decisive action, but it has not disclosed more details about the location, staff involved and so on.

Kai Yun group said, "India is an excellent manual embroidery center, which has a long tradition in this technology and has many high-quality craftsmen. Most of the luxury brands in the world also rely on India's manual embroidery expertise." But Kai Yun group emphasizes that this business is still partly dependent on the local small subcontractors in India, and the local subcontractors have very poor working conditions, especially low wages and poor health and safety policies. Therefore, the group hopes to set up its own business in India and provide good working conditions and related welfare policies for its employees.

Kai Yun group said, "our goal is not 100% hand embroidered products that cover the brand of the group, but to acquire first-hand professional knowledge, including business and technical knowledge, so as to cooperate with external suppliers more effectively, and better negotiate work items, wages, prices and contractual obligations."

Fran ois-Henri Pinault, chairman and chief executive officer of Kai Yun group, said in an interview that the working environment in parts of India was unacceptable.

Kai Yun group (Kering) issued the "progress report on sustainable development" in January 30th. The report shows that the group has made significant progress in the field of sustainable development, and is expected to achieve its established 2025 target and lay a solid foundation for the group to achieve the goal of "1.5 degree temperature control".
