How does the "travel demand" of consumers change? As one of the leading enterprises in the hotel industry, how to deal with the changes in the hotel industry? Can its expansion strategy in China be realized as scheduled? On July 29, Qian Jin, President of Greater China and Mongolia of Hilton Hotel, was interviewed by the 21st century economic report.

"In crisis, there is danger." Qian Jin said that in view of the challenges brought about by the epidemic, Hilton Hotels across the country are actively seeking digital innovation in business and marketing mode, creating a new business form of "live with goods" to adapt to the changing consumer demand. At the same time, we will continue to promote the strategic layout in China and remain confident in future development.

Individuals and industries are in a period of great changes

"21st century": the epidemic has brought great impact on economic development, especially the tourism industry in the first quarter of this year is in the stage of suspension. How has Hilton operated in China in the past six months?

Qian Jin: this epidemic is really extraordinary. There was also a temporary "stop" in tourism. During the epidemic, people's travel was greatly restricted. For me, it was the first time in my career that I encountered such a serious epidemic. Although I have experienced the SARS epidemic, by contrast, this is a global epidemic. It not only has an impact on our tourism industry, but also has a great impact on the industries and enterprises of our various systems, whether international enterprises or domestic enterprises.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, we have made a lot of adjustments and layout in the daily safety protection and hotel operation.

With the gradual improvement of China's epidemic prevention and control, our hotels are in good condition to resume business, and are optimistic about the full resumption of business. At present, affected by the epidemic situation, the performance of different market segments is different. The recovery speed of the tour around the big city performed well in the market segments, especially in weekends and long holidays.

On the evening of July 14, the resumption of cross provincial team tourism by the general office of the Ministry of culture and tourism is a major positive news for the industry. After that, the recovery of tourism industry will be accelerated by a series of government policies.

21st century: according to the company's previous strategy, there are hundreds of projects under construction. Does the current epidemic affect the projects under construction? Is there any change in the company's Millennium store target in 2025?

Qian Jin: Frankly speaking, the emergency of the epidemic has indeed had an impact on our operation, but the impact is only temporary. We basically still adhere to the original overall strategic deployment. At present, all our hotel projects under construction have been restarted.

It is worth mentioning that on June 23, this year, we held a signing ceremony with Fengyue Hotel and resort, the core alliance enterprise of country garden, on the brand cooperation of Hilton Huiting hotel. Fengyue Hotel and resort will become the exclusive strategic partner of Huiting hotel brand in China. It will be fully responsible for the development, preparation, operation and management of Hilton whiting hotel brand in China market, and seek the overall layout and long-term development of Hilton whiting hotel brand in China. We hope to cooperate with Fengyue hotels and resorts, and strive to build more than 1000 Hilton Wyatt hotels in China in the future. I believe this move is the best illustration of our strategy and commitment.
