On October 16, seven chemical companies jointly launched the textile industry sustainable Chemicals Industry Alliance (SCTI) in Singapore, committed to cooperation, innovation and change, aiming to lead the textile and leather industry to a more sustainable future. The founding members of SCTI include angor group, CHT group, Huntsman, KISCO, Kekai refining, Rudolf and Tona chemical. In recent years, they have invested heavily in sustainable solutions for the textile industry.

"With the global textile and leather industry committed to sustainable development, chemical solutions will play a decisive role," said Rohit Aggarwal, chairman of SCTI and President of Huntsman textile dyeing and chemicals. Sustainable chemicals enable brands, retailers and manufacturers to provide better protection for factory employees, local communities, the natural environment and end consumers. SCTI will help brands, retailers and manufacturers to choose the most suitable technology and process at each stage of their sustainable development process by sharing their members' knowledge of environmental chemicals and technology application, and providing relevant training and evaluation tools, so as to achieve the highest level of sustainable development. "

In addition, SCTI has developed a globally unified sustainability standard and assessment tool for chemical products used in the textile industry. The tool can cover the evaluation of various performance indicators of chemicals, from the harm of products, the impact on natural ecology and society, etc.

Aggarwal said SCTI's ultimate goal is to help the industry produce more sustainable textiles and leather products for consumers through a cleaner and more transparent supply chain. These supply chains can reduce water and energy use and reduce emissions and pollution.
