Surpass Daqing! Construction Of A Large Oil Field With Oil And Gas Equivalent Of 60 Million Tons Per Year In China

The birth of a new milestone in China's oil industry has surpassed the peak production of Daqing Oilfield, marking the first time that China has built a super large oil and gas field with an annual oil and gas equivalent of 60 million tons.

At 10:00 a.m. on December 27, the digital display screen of PetroChina Changqing Oilfield Production Command Center showed that the oil and gas production curve reached the peak of 60 million tons of oil and gas equivalent, reaching 60.08 million tons, including 24.518 million tons of crude oil and 44.531 billion cubic meters of natural gas.

So far, a new milestone in China's oil industry was born, surpassing the peak production of Daqing Oilfield, marking the first time that China has built a super large oil and gas field with an annual oil and gas equivalent of 60 million tons.

Changqing Oilfield, located in Ordos Basin, is an oil field with rapid increase of reserves and production in China since the new century. Since the completion of Daqing in the western region in 2013, it has crossed the historical peak of domestic oil fields in 2019 and climbed to a new height of China's oil industry this year, creating a record of efficient development of unconventional oil and gas fields in China.

At present, Changqing Oilfield has contributed more than 760 million tons of oil and gas to the country. Meanwhile, the company plans to increase the annual oil and gas production to 68 million tons during the 14th Five Year Plan period.

Starting from Low-permeability Oilfields, Changqing Oilfield has successively broken through key core technologies such as ultra-low permeability, ultra-low permeability and tight gas to realize effective development of shale oil on a large scale. In recent 50 years, Changqing Oilfield has successively carried out basic research and tackling key scientific and technological problems, with a total of 5.9 billion tons of proven oil reserves and 4 trillion cubic meters of proven natural gas reserves.

In recent two years, oil exploration has found a large shale oil field with reserves of 1 billion tons in Qingyang, Gansu Province; two new gas bearing areas of 100 billion cubic meters have been discovered in Longdong and Ningxia, and a carbonatite atmosphere area with proven reserves of 212.4 billion cubic meters has been obtained in the west of Jingbian gas field; the first high-yield marine shale gas well has been captured by risk exploration in the north of China. With the accumulation of resource advantages, Changqing still has great potential for sustainable development in the huge volume of 60 million tons.

Under the pressure of nearly two rounds of international ultra-low oil prices, Changqing Oilfield has continuously challenged the limit of "unconventional" oil and gas development, and has successively built a national demonstration area of 1 million tons of shale oil and an efficient development demonstration area of 3 billion cubic meters of tight gas.

The production area of Changqing oil field covers five provinces (autonomous regions) of Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi. It is not only an important oil and gas replacement area in China, but also a necessary place for oil and gas from Central Asia to enter the southeast coast. As China's leading natural gas production base, Changqing Oilfield is responsible for the gas supply of more than 50 large and medium-sized cities.

It provides more than 44.5 billion cubic meters of annual natural gas every year to Beijing Tianjin Hebei region and Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia Inner Mongolia region, forming a safe and stable gas source. Since 1997, 468.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been produced, equivalent to 562 million tons of standard coal and 1.529 billion tons of carbon emissions have been reduced.
