Exclusive Interview With Mr. Luo Xukai, Executive Board Member Of SAP
In the first quarter of 2021, German software giant SAP delivered a better than expected report card.

SAP realized operating profit (IFRS) of 960 million euro in the first quarter, a year-on-year decrease of 21%, and non IFRS operating profit of 1.741 billion euro, a year-on-year increase of 17%. SAP said the decline in operating profit was due to equity incentive fees and restructuring of SAP cloud delivery infrastructure.
SAP's after tax profit in the first quarter was 1.07 billion euro, far exceeding the market expectation of 684 million euro, which was 32% higher than that of 811 million euro in the same period of last year; Operating cash flow increased by 3% to 3.09 billion euro and free cash flow increased by 10% to 2.85 billion euro.
"In the first quarter of this year, we got the highest order entry in history. The current cloud undelivered business of S / 4hana grew by 43%, and the software licensing business under non IFRS grew by 11%, which is our fastest growth rate in the past five years." Speed up new cloud services
Cloud business is a bright spot in SAP's financial report“ We had the highest order intake in history in the first quarter, including both software licensing and cloud business. " Luo said.
According to the financial report, SAP's outstanding cloud business revenue in the first quarter was 7.628 billion euro, with a year-on-year growth of 19% under the non IFRS fixed exchange rate. Among them, the revenue of cloud business was 2.145 billion euro, with a year-on-year growth of 13% under non IFRS fixed exchange rate, software license and support income of 3.283 billion euro, and 1% year-on-year growth under non IFRS fixed exchange rate.
It should be noted that SAP achieved rapid growth of cloud products in the first quarter, including quartrics, personnel management, procurement, customer experience, business technology platform, and "rise with SAP" to promote customer cloud transformation.
Among them, the cloud undelivered business of S / 4hana, the flagship product of sap, was 1.036 billion euro in the first quarter, with a year-on-year growth of 43%. According to reports, S / 4hana increased more than 400 customers in this quarter, the total utilization rate of more than 16400 enterprises, and the number of customers increased by more than 16% year on year. In the first quarter, more than half of S / 4hana customers were brand new.
