Jiang Shicheng, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, consultant of Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber Company, once served as deputy general manager and chief engineer of Yizheng Chemical Fiber Company, member of science and Technology Committee of Sinopec Group Corporation, etc. He is an expert of chemical fiber engineering design and technical management in China, and one of the main pioneers of polyester industry engineering.

Since he was young, Jiang Shicheng has been fond of the ever-changing chemistry and is determined to be a chemical engineer. After graduating from East China Institute of Chemical Technology in 1957, he was grateful for the training of the party and the state. He often said "the need of the country". These four words are simple and unadorned, and they are extremely heavy because of his more than 60 years of hard work. Beijing, Wuhan, Jilin, Guizhou, Guangxi, Liaoning, Jiangsu and other places have left his work and life footprints of serving the country and pursuing dreams unremittingly. He participated in a number of national key projects and engineering construction, recording the development process of China's chemical fiber industry from scratch, from small to large, from large to strong.

As early as the mid-1960s, Jiang Shicheng, as the general design director of the national large-scale project Guizhou organic chemical plant, created a new way of localization in the engineering design and construction of China's first 10000 ton vinyl acetate and polyvinyl alcohol plant, and successfully promoted the use of similar devices in Guangxi vinylon plant. In the early 1970s, in order to solve the problem of Chinese people's dressing difficulties, China's chemical fiber industry turned to a new stage of producing polyester, nylon, acrylic and other synthetic fibers with oil and natural gas as the main raw materials. In 1973, Jiang Shicheng participated in the design and foreign technical negotiation of four major petrochemical fiber bases in China, and served as the design director of ethylene, gasoline hydrogenation and other units of Liaoyang Petrochemical Fiber general plant project. In 1978, appointed by the Ministry of textile industry, Jiang Shicheng came to Yizheng to participate in the overall planning of Yizheng Chemical Fiber Engineering, the largest modern chemical fiber and chemical fiber raw material base in China, and served as the chief engineer.

In 1992, with the dream of revitalizing the national chemical fiber industry, Jiang Shicheng moved his family from Beijing to Yizheng Chemical fiber. With a strong sense of responsibility of daring to be the first in the world and serving the country through science and technology, he organized and led a technical team composed of Yizheng Chemical fiber, China Textile Industry Design Institute, East China University of science and technology and Nanhua company to jointly tackle key problems across systems and departments, and gradually digest and absorb the introduced technology, It has undertaken the important task of tackling key problems in domestic production of complete sets of polyester plant technology. In the years of passion burning, we have developed the domestic high-capacity polyester technology with independent intellectual property rights, breaking the foreign technology monopoly, creating the road of domestic polyester plant construction, and driving the leap forward development of China's polyester industry. At present, China has become a major chemical fiber production country accounting for 70% of the global output. China's polyester industry, which has come to the top in recent years, has not only provided the raw materials of "Dacron" clothing material and solved the clothing problem of Chinese people, but also provided a variety of new fiber materials in the development of life and health, energy conversion, aerospace, intelligent sensing and other fields.

In 1999, Jiang Shicheng was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering and won the engineering award of Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award in 2006.
