High Quality Varieties: Two New Cotton Varieties In Hubei Province Have Passed The National Examination And Approval

On November 30, the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas announced that the new cotton varieties ez9 and zd2040 developed by the Institute of economic work of Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences were approved by the National Crop Variety examination and Approval Committee.

Ez9 and zd2040 are transgenic early maturing conventional cotton varieties. The growth period of ez9 was 105 days; The lint yield per mu was 86.9 kg, 15.2% higher than that of the control; The average length of the upper half of hvicc fiber was 29.4 mm, the breaking strength was 30.6 CNG tex, and the micronaire value was 5.0, which reached the standard of high quality type II. The growth period of zd2040 was 102 days; In the regional test, lint yield per mu was 76.9 kg, 3.7% higher than that of the control; The average length of the upper half of hvicc fiber was 29.9 mm, the breaking strength was 33.3 CNG tex, and the micronaire value was 4.6, which reached the standard of high quality type II.

The two varieties are suitable for planting rape or wheat after harvest in the cotton area of the Yangtze River Basin. They meet the current needs of green and high-quality cotton production, and have broad prospects for popularization and application.
